Hi,
I am up in the air with applying to the army or air force nurse corps reserve! I am looking for some input from current military nurses or nurse corps veterans. I have my BSN and live in PA. Any/all pros and cons appreciated!! I have not really looked into the Navy, but any thoughts are welcome. Thank you in advance!!

I have a decent amount of experience with the USAF Nurse Corps, reserve side. Where in PA are you from, considering there is only one reserve base in the state, which is in Pittsburgh. That base has two medical units, the staging squadron and evac squadron. Depending on where you live, you could always travel to the bases in the surrounding states. Wright Patt, in Ohio, is an active duty base with a reserve wing, and Youngstown is a reserve base. There are also bases in NJ, NY, and DE.
Hi! Thanks for the reply. I am in Philadelphia. I wasn't sure where the closest reserve base is? I know there is Mcguire in NJ, but that is all I know of. Any idea of who i would need to contact or do you have a number since I am assuming you are a veteren.
Thanks!
I'll PM you

I would first review what units are in your area to see if nurses are in your area for either branch and then the type of unit and if they have any entry level positions available and then pose the question between which branch you might prefer.

Hi LegzRN, I am also considering the AF Reserve Nurse Corps. I have spoken to a recruiter but I would be grateful to talk to you about your experiences to see if it is a viable option for me.
I am presently a BSN (Junior) second degree student in PA and former 1st LT (Promotable) in the Army Reserve (discharged 2006).
I was told I will not have to repeat Basic course, just report to unit. May I speak to you via IM or PM?
Regards.
