Just wondering if any of you here are either of the above? I am a pre-nursing student getting ready for hopefully my last pre-nursing semester in the Spring '09 (I am applying for entry in Fall '09). Wow, the nursing program here is SO COMPETITIVE to get into!! I honestly don't think I'll make it in as I'm an "across-the-board" straight B student who just got my firs C ever, in Micro-organisms and Disease no less!! Plus, next semester I will be taking Eng. 2 and Biol. 2, which are two of the courses the nursing program looks at heavily.
Was also thinking of maybe also applying to the school in Brunswick (they are changing from a 2-yr RN to a 4-yr BSN program beginning with the Fall '09) as well. Anyone here have any experience with that school?
I so desperately want to get in and get started! This is my life's dream and I put it off for way too long (I'm a mom of 4 and actually attend college with one of my sons!).
Any feedback would be great!
Blessings!
Hi all! I know so many of you have questions (and so do I), so I made a facebook group for any of those who would like to join. The group is names "Armstrong Atlantic State University Nursing", so please come join and ask/answer any questions or just so you can meet some of you future class mates! Hope to see you all very soon!
Here is the website if you would like to join :)
Congrats to all of you who got into AASU'S BSN program. I'm now a Senior 1 and will be starting my 3rd semester of the nursing program in the Fall. This is a great nursing program. I'm a post-bac student and also a mom and wife. So far, I'm doing very well. This program requires you to be organized and you cannot procrastinate with reading & studying. If you have opportunity to work as a PCT via the S.T.E.P. program with St. Joseph's/Candler or as a PCT at Memorial, take advantage of it. We've been told having your foot in the door somewhere will help with landing an RN job after graduation. RN jobs in Savannah for new grads aren't as easy to come by anymore. Apparently AASU is turning out more of us each semester than Savannah hospitals can accomodate.
Hi In2win! Glad to hear that you have had a good experience at AASU. I am considering this school for Spring 2010.
I am a sahm mom of 2 small kids with a BSed(not using)...and live in Brunswick. I applied to BSN program here but didn't make the cut. I was too late in taking the teas test. GRRRR. Ridiculous...but the program only houses 50 (small number) and it is pretty competitive. I don't want twiddle my thumbs for another year so I was hoping to start at AASU. I am hoping that you can answer just a few of my questions...
Do they offer a ADN too? What was the TEAS score criteria? Is the program rigorous? And is it absolutely crazy to commute an hour to do this!? Would you reccommend going part time and trying again at my local college in 2011? Can you give me an idea of what your schedule has been like?
Thank you!!!
Hi everyone. I hope someone can help me out. I am currently in the process of applying to AASU's nursing program for Spring 2012. I am a post-bacc student and am trying to figure out if I have chance of getting in. I have a dual major in Accounting and Business Mgmt, but haven't taken any classes at AASU. Also, the only C's I may have entering the program are in Chemistry I and World Civ I (if I can't replace World Civ with a religion class). I took my TEAS V test and scored:
Adjusted Individual Score: 72%
Preparedness Level: Proficient
Percentile Rank- National :74
I have taken every pre-req except for Statistics, and my overall GPA is a 3.47. My GPA in D and F is a 3.25. Do I need to re-take the TEAS or do I have a chance because my grades are decent?! HELP!!!!

Glad to hear you got in, Megan. All 80 students will have lecture together on Mondays and Tuesdays 9-12 and 1-4. On Wednesday and Thursday each you will have one lab (either 9-12 or 1-4). That brings it to 4 lectures and 2 labs. If you want to do the honors program, you need to have a 3.2 GPA. The first clinical is in a nursing home, and it's late in the first semester.
ETA: Friday is all yours.
