Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) pre-nursing or nursing students?

Published

Just wondering if any of you here are either of the above? I am a pre-nursing student getting ready for hopefully my last pre-nursing semester in the Spring '09 (I am applying for entry in Fall '09). Wow, the nursing program here is SO COMPETITIVE to get into!! I honestly don't think I'll make it in as I'm an "across-the-board" straight B student who just got my firs C ever, in Micro-organisms and Disease no less!! Plus, next semester I will be taking Eng. 2 and Biol. 2, which are two of the courses the nursing program looks at heavily.

Was also thinking of maybe also applying to the school in Brunswick (they are changing from a 2-yr RN to a 4-yr BSN program beginning with the Fall '09) as well. Anyone here have any experience with that school?

I so desperately want to get in and get started! This is my life's dream and I put it off for way too long (I'm a mom of 4 and actually attend college with one of my sons!).

Any feedback would be great!

Blessings!

Hi,

I'm a pre-nursing student at AASU as well. Since I already have a 4 yr degree in Business Admin., I don't have to take as many classes as a student just starting out. However, I feel out of touch because it's been almost 14 years since I graduated with my first bachelors degree. I still have to struggle thru A & P I and II and Micro-Organisms & Diseases :scrying:. I have taken the NET and failed the Reading Comp part. I'm re-taking it this month and feel more prepared since I studied this time. My goal is to try to get in for Fall '09 by getting A & P I out of the way this Spring and taking the last 2 biology classes in summer. I only hope that the DON will let me in on a contingency basis since I won't be done w/all the pre-reqs when I turn in my application. I'm not too hopeful since the program is highly competitive. I'd just have to shoot for Spring '10.

Good luck & hopefully we'll both get our foot in the door this fall.:D

Hi I just wanted to give some help. I have a BA from Temple University in Philadelphia. I applied to AASU Accelerated BSN program for Spring 2009. I was accepted but turned down the offer because I decided to stay up north to get my BSN at Temple or Drexel University starting Fall 2009. (Waiting to hear from them) I would say don't be discouraged from the program. I had a B average from my undergrad degree. I did however have a 4.0 in all my pre-reqs for Nursing. But I think you should be okay. They can be difficult to communicate with there but don't give up! If I don't get into these programs up here I might just reapply to AASU! Good luck and keep your head up!

Hey there. I applied for AASU for Fall 2010. Did any of you end up attending? I am so curious as to what the program is like. Any info would be so greatly appreciated!! It is my dream to attend AASU!!!

Hi!

I also applied for the BSN program for Fall 2010. I am a post-bacc applicant coming from the University of Florida. Does anyone know how likely it is for a post-bacc to get in? From what I keep hearing, they like to accept from their own. I have 3.6 pre-requisite GPA but I'm still really nervous-- I want to be a nurse so badly! Also, does anyone know when they typically start notifying people of their acceptance or not? Thanks and good luck to everyone =]

I called and was told they will start notifying people last week of March to first week of April. I don't see why they wouldn't take a post bac. Good luck! I hope we both get in. I will have to move to Savannah, I live 5 hours away.

Has anyone heard from AASU for the Fall 2010 BSN program yet? I keep checking my mailbox hoping for something, but no luck yet!

No my mailman thinks im crazy because I have been checking it non stop. DO you have any prereqs left?

I have seen other people on the blog here that have heard from AASU. Have you heard yet...I still haven't... :(

No way! I still haven't heard anything. I called yesterday and they told me, "We're probably sending them next week." (direct quote) Have people really heard? That's confusing and frustrating!

Yes tell me about it but wow I feel so much better because I thought that it might have meant I didn't get in. OK wow now I can stop worrying lol. Yes look in the thread "I Got Accepted!" or its something like that...Maybe that person called and they told her she did?? Thanks for the peace of mind...

I heard that I got in on Tuesday!!! So excited. The reason that I heard was because I had an advisement appointment on Tuesday so they gave me my acceptance letter at that time. I was so happy I almost cried (because I'm a dork) Good luck to the rest of you. I hope they tell you soon because the earliest orientation starts next Monday but goes on through the end of April. The fees and seat reservations are due by April 15th. Good luck to the rest of you!!! :yeah:
