Arkansas State University 2020 CRNA

Updated:   Published

Hello all! I haven't seen a thread for the Arkansas State CRNA program that starts in January of 2020. I've sent in my application and have been reading (and re-reading) old A-State CRNA threads about the interview process and all that so I thought we could start one for this cohort!

Thanks for starting the thread. I couldn’t locate any either. I’m applying as well and hope this is my last application. I’m extremely interested in A-State, being from the south, seems like it would be an easy living transition.

As far as background, I’ve been an ER nurse for 7 years and CVMS for almost 2 at a level II trauma and academic hospital

Unfortunately, my stats aren’t that stellar, but I meet requirements and I’ve already been accepted to the grad school for the statistics class, anyone taking it this summer?

.

Hello

Hopefully you still check this site. But what process did you take to apply for the grad statistics course? Its listed under grad education department and looks like I need to apply for an education degree when I only need to take one course

Hey guys, Quick question, when they say grad level states class, is that for those who have not taken states in undergrad or a specific class? also, could yall share best steps to prep for GRE?

Thanks

It doesn’t matter if you took undergrad stats or not. They still want a grad level stats class. A lot of us took it through UOP or through ASU. I took it through UOP. It was all online and only 6 weeks if I can remember right (Math 540).

I honestly didn’t do well on the GRE (made a 281) but I still got in. And I know several other people who didn’t get above a 290 or 300 like most schools require and still got into their school but I wouldn’t recommend not giving effort. Just submit what you have and see is what I’m saying because you never know. Some are more lenient about it and some schools you have to meet their minimum requirement.
I bought a prep GRE book (the official guide to GRE general test by ETS off amazon for $25) and glanced at it a few days before I took the test. I didn’t put much effort into but if you give yourself a good 2 weeks to study you can do better than I did. I was just in a time crunch and wanted to have all my stuff turned in on time. That book is pretty much identical to how the test will be. And I didn’t realize until after I took the test that a lot of their commonly asked essay questions can be found online as well.

Hope that helps!

You can just google University of Phoenix and look up their graduate individual courses. It’s called Math 540 but I don’t have the direct link. If I can remember right it was like $1,600-1,800 (expensive but it was my only option at the time) and you don’t have to buy a book or anything. It is all online with various start dates. And I ended up with an A so it wasn’t too hard. So it was worth paying for to me.

thank you, although its a steep for once class, I am not a fan when each program have such unique pre-req!

Has anyone heard about the CRNA stipend program for the Army Reserves? You will receive a monthly stipend while attending CRNA school of over $2300 a month and you will be an officer in the reserves after graduating?

I know this is an old post, but does anyone know about ASU switching over to the DNP CRNA? Every school essentially is talking about implementing it, or already has, due to the change in MSN requirement switching to DNP.

On ASU site, I couldn't find ANYTHING about a CRNA DNP change, except for a word doc from 2016 which seemed like some short draft. I know this could be a new forum, but just thought I'd ask you all because you go there! (or hopefully will this next semester if you didn't find a SRNA home) ?

I don't even have my BSN yet, waiting with prerequisites done, but ASU definitely has my attention and I'm going through lists, comparing, and doing my own ranking process (which I know will change, slightly or extremely).

@Clayton McManis

They planned to start the DNP program in January but were missing some requirements so it is pending. Therefore, I believe they are trying again to get it approved and if not, they will start the program in January as planned but still as the MSN program (the deadline for all programs to be DNP is January 2022). That will give them one last year to admit as a masters program and get requirements ready for the change over to a doctoral program.

My ex just graduated from ASU. She said they are planning to start the DNP in Summer 21 according to the director. They fully intend on the DNP program being approved by then, and don't plan on a January start date ?. I copied and pasted what's on their website. It's the DNP schedule. Hope it helps someone out. Wish I would've known about this program last year - it's very cheap. Good Luck!
