Arkansas State 2019 CRNA

Published

So, I completed my application to Arkansas State's MSN CRNA program beginning in 2019. I was relieved to have everything submitted by the priority deadline. Who else out there is trying for this school? Anyone have any information about the interview process?

I didn't get the vibe that i was not rushed, or that anyone tried to make me feel comfortable. I had several clinical questions.. really no get to know you questions like i was expecting. But again, I hope the best for you all!

I am sure you did GREAT :)

Despite how it may have felt, i think the program also likes people that did their BSN's thru the school etc.

Best of luck to you too :)

Are you applying elsewhere as well?

Thank you! I want to be positive and think possibly i am reading to into it from being nervous but it definitely did not go as planned- but worst case can use it as a learning experience if nothing else! I am to UT. ASU was my first choice but we'll see- it may just not be in the plans for me to go there! Have you interviewed yet? or will you be interviewing at ASU If so best of luck to you :)

I was told that they can take up to 40 but the last couple years they haven't taken that many. Last years class was 35 and the year before that was less. Fingers crossed!

how was your interview? if it is today, good luck!!

Interview complete!

I felt that it was a slight bit rushed as previous posters have mentioned, but all in all not a terrible interview. I feel decently confident about it. Everyone was personable, but straightforward and direct. I had a pretty equal amount of personal vs clinical questions.

I will say this, it was a LOT better than an interview I had earlier this year with a Texas school where they intentionally asked certain questions to lead you down a path of no return to cause you to stumble to see how well you respond "under pressure." ASU did not do that- they walked you through things you don't know to assist you with getting to the answer. I got the impression that they want you to get the question right and succeed.

You guys that are also interviewing today, what did you think?

How did yours go? How do you feel about it??

HI Definqueen,

I felt the same. Def felt like it was a bit rushed. Forgot to mention in the survey that it would have been nice to get a schedule (10 min interview, pre-test not weighed on admissions decisions etc).

It started with an introduction so i felt we were not rushing there but then it geared up going over the test a little and then Dr. Black jumped in with some questions...so i felt like we barely got to page 2 of the test (maybe question 3 thats it...haha).

But i do feel "decently comfortable" with it as you did.

Curious to see what happens in 2 weeks.

They did mention they may still do another round of interviews --- they were not sure about it. So couldnt tell me how many they were interviewing for the 2019 class.

Hoping for the best. :)

Your interview definitely sounds identical to mine, actually. I didn't mention that in the survey either, but yes, that would have been nice to have an agenda or some rubric.

So the pretest is or isn't weighted toward our admission?

I didn't ask how many they were interviewing, but I did ask when we would possibly hear something back. I got a similar response as you did, a "we may have another batch of interviews next week...so it might be up to a month or so until we decide," and they included that they wanted to interview all candidates first before making final decisions.

Shoot me an email! It won't let me PM you because I haven't "actively participated" in enough discussions on here yet. Sigh. Lol

Honestly, I don't have a very good feeling about how my interview went. I felt like they were very uninterested. I had 0 get to know you questions. Mostly in depth patho questions, OR questions, etc. the whole thing was very rushed and I almost felt like they they had made a decision about me before I walked in the room. I could be over thinking it though. I hope your experiences were better than mine í ½í¸‚

I like your positivity. I smell bravado reading your words on your posts. Keep that up in your interview, humbly of course.

They also informed me that it would be two weeks or more to get the results if you are in. Wishing the best for you - RAN.
