UALR Nursing Program Applicant 2016

U.S.A. Arkansas

Published

Just applied for the Summer 2016 AAS-RN program. Long wait until March to find out whether I am have been accepted or not. Thought I would get a thread started for this years applicants!

I am new to the Area and dont know much on either school... Hoever from the tour, and entrance criteria my prefrence went to UALR.. However, I am submitting my application to Baptist too, once I take the ACT..(its been 16 years since I was out of High School) I say all that to ask this.. What do you all know about either program, and what do you think is a better choice?

I believe baptist is an associate degree program so I would recommend ualr to go ahead and get the BSN. I graduated from a diploma program in 1997 and always wished I would've gone straight for the BSN.. But once you start working, it's hard to go back :). I've heard nothing but good things about UALR. Really haven't heard much about Baptist.

UALR only starts in the summer where you take a prep course (Nursing Essentials) and the real course load starts in the fall, UALR has a larger class and a higher pass rate on the NCLEX than Baptist.

Baptist has rolling admissions so you can start in the summer, fall or spring. They are really good too but they are a bit more competitive because of the smaller class size, same thing for UALR. And I'm not sure if you have an option to get your BSN at Baptist, it's just Diploma only.

Hey all!

I'm applying to the 2016 RN program at UALR too!! My gpa right now (as of application) is a 3.12 but by the end of the semester should be a 3.48.

Does anyone know around when we should find out about our acceptance?

Super hard to wait! This month has been the slowest EVER!!

They do not have an RN to BSN option, only diploma. For the BSN, you would have to transfer to either UALR or AR Tech I believe.

I'm getting so anxious, we have about 2-3 weeks before we hear anything. UGHHHH I'm so excited and nervous.

I applied as well for 2016 year. I am currently enrolled in A&P I so I hope I get in. I have a 3.4 gpa right now. Hopefully we all are accepted!

I also applied with a C average at the accepted averaged for UALR LPN to RN program. I'm also taking Chemistry now. Hopefully it will help as well. Although I did read on old post where a person did get in with something like a 2.99. So just pray and stay positive. That's all I can do. :sorry:

Oh my goodness! The wait is killing me:nailbiting:

Hello everyone,

I applied for Ualr's nursing program this year too. I currently have a 2.96 nursing prerequisite gpa. I am so nervous and im hoping that i get accepted. Im scared that my gpa is not high enough. Last year someone told me that the lowest gpa they accepted was a 3.1, does anyone know if thats true?

Thats not true, in the informational it was said you are ranked by gpa, and they have 200 spots so just calm down. It will be ok. Even if you get wait listed a lot of people flunk out summer 1 and that allows you to get in.

Apparently everyone has been calling for an update and they have asked for people to refrain from calling. (I haven't called personally but I go to the website for updates)

As of March 25, 2016 per UALR NURSING APPLICATION UPDATE

UALR Nursing Admissions asks you refrain from calling to check the status of your admissions application. We understand and empathize with your anticipation and the committee is feverishly working on application files. Acceptance and waitlist letters will be sent at the end of the March and beginning of April. Please continue to check your email for updates.

Hello!

I have applied also to the program for this year!

I am looking forward to the emails!

suspense is killing me! lol
