What are the CNA classes like?

I would love to hear experiences from those of you who took your CNA classes here in Phoenix. I am going to be going to the southwest skill center this year for mine. It's supposed to be 6w long, M-T, 8-2:30 and then she told me the clinical is from 6-1, and I guess that's one day a week?

So my question is, how did you find the workload? Were you taking any other classes at this time? I am in Rio's A&P1 and Food and Nutrition class so, I'm hoping this will still be doable as I'm doing the CNA course. What were the clinicals like? Were they one day a week for you?

Actually I am finding it much easier. It is more than memorization and once you find out the reasoning behind a function it all seems to fall in place.

I just found out today I got into the CNA program at Boswell/Mesa CC. Only $220. I had been waitlisted. So I spent the day running arounding getting my book and registering, dropping and adding. The class started Monday so I have to catch up.

I'm glad to hear 202 is easier. We are doing skeletal system right now, and the only reason it isn't driving me crazy is my 5th grade PE teacher taught us all proper names of the bones in the body through rote memorization over the course of that school year. Who knew how handy it would be to me years later!

If you don't mind me asking, how is 205 through Rio? I'll probably be doing 202 at the same time as 205 when I'm done with the LPN program. They are the last of my prereqs I will need.

Good luck with the boswell program. I've heard about it, it's much closer to you in Surprise, right? Let me know as much detail as you can. Good luck with catching up!

I saw in your other post you say your cousin (???) is looking into the SWSC program? Tell her to apply to the MCSC too! They are both the same thing but she might possibly get in one before the other. I also hear Gateway has encorporated an online nursing program just like RIo. I know you are looking into the online program so just wanted to let you know so you could check it out.

I seen you mentioned an online nursing class. What type of class is there for the nursing program that you can do online? Sorry for being nosey, just curious. Melanie :coollook: :Melody:

Well the theory is online but you have to attend clinicals. The college is part of our Community College system here so it is cheap. The nursing part is only available to Maricopa, AZ residents at present. But anyone can take the pre-reqs through them.

I'm taking BIO 205 online through Rio right now. I just took my midterm last week. PM me and I can fill you in on it. Later.

Hey-

Has anyone taken nutrition online at Rio? I have to take it, and I'm not sure whether to do it at CCC or online. Haven't heard great things about the nutrition classes from anyone.

Thanks
