RN & LPN Question Help!

So, I'm curious of what happens after submitting my RN application if I'm already in the LPN program.

I'm waitlisted for the LPN program for fall. I got an email saying that if the next person defers or drops out, that I'll take the next seat. If that's the case then I start this August.

My question is: I want to submit for RN application in about three weeks from now, since I'm finishing up the last of my prerequisites. What happens if I possibly get placed in the RN in spring 2017 and haven't finished the LPN program yet? Do you have to defer the RN placement or do they withdraw it until you finish the LPN cohort? Could I submit the RN application DURING while I'm in the LPN cohort?

I would like my RN application in the nursing pool, but will it matter if I'm in the LPN cohort?

If I'm understanding your question you are asking if you can be in both the waiting pools for the lpn program and RN program.

I believe as long as you have the prerequisite s done you can be in both pools. They are two separate programs and if you were to finish the lpn program first you would bridge into the middle of the RN program afterwards. A whole different process.

If you get placed into the RN program before the lpn program you can withdraw your lpn application or just turn down placement if they place you after you have accepted an RN placement.

Hope this helps and sorry if I missed understood your questions. As always your best bet on answers are from a nursing advisor from the schools.

What Mrs. Bookworm said.

In my opinion, I would forego the LPN program if your end goal is RN. The only places I've seen that hire LPNs are LTC facilities and the prisons. Plus, there's no guarantee you can bridge into the RN program without having to wait a semester or two. If you just stick it out a little longer, you'll save time in the long run.

I can't imagine you would get placed in a ADN cohort for Spring '17. There are students who have been on the waitlist since fall of 2015 that haven't been placed yet. i would assume if you submit your application in three weeks that the absolute earliest you would begin is Fall '17. Just something to consider.

This is true as well. Unless OP is considering CEP.
