Hi fellow Arizonans!!

Can someone tell me, who has applied to a Maricopa Community College ADN program, when and how they recieved notice of either being accepted or being put into the lottery? I am wondering because I am looking to apply last week of October and am wondering if they send you a letter just simply stating you are in the lottery now but nothing more, or do they tell you when you are tentatively to start the ADN program? How exactly is it supposed to work?

I am trying to make a timeline for myself as it pertains to quitting my office job and jumping into the healthcare arena. Any help or details on your own experience would be appreciated!!!

Thank you so much!

Janice

I haven't been through it, but I think there's a website where you can check your status once you apply.

Good luck!!!!

Hey, thanks for the link Rebecca! I am currently trying to figure out if I am going to be OK for application. I am looking to apply October 25th, checking the box that says "I am in my last semester of prereq courses". This is true, but I am taking a class at RIO that ends officially on Jan 22nd. This does not follow the traditional "semesters", but would still be considered fall by RIO. I am trying to figure out if this is going to be OK! I could accelerate it a few weeks if that would make a difference. No matter what I don't want them to throw out my app because my class didn't end by December whatever, you know? You know how elusive nursing advisors are, and mine won't call me back! Arrrgggghh.

Oh well. The turmoils of nursing school application.:) I am starting to really fret too...gotta take the NET this weekend!:imbar Talk to you later!

Hi, I applied in June 04 and I was accepted in September to the p/t Glendale program starting in Spring 05. After you put in your application, you can go to the website and it will say that you are "provisional" until all of your prerequisites are completed and your final prereq grades have been posted. You will also see a time stamp. This is used to determine your lottery number. You will need to make sure that the school of your first choice gets your final grades after they have been posted ASAP. Then when you view your application it will be in a "complete" status. The students that did not get placed in the Spring (there are over 100, I believe) will be placed first. Then they will begin to place the students that have applied in the Fall. You can check with your Nursing Advisor to see what date they will start placing the Fall lottery students and you can check the website every Tuesday after this date to see what your status is. I found out the very same day that I was placed on the website. I was notified by e-mail and also with a letter that was sent to my home a few days later. Hope this helps. Good luck :)

Wow, thanks so much! That definitly helps! What choice did you get? Your first, second, third..etc ranked preference? That is cool for you! I figure it is about a 1 year wait, atleast a semester, so I figured the Anatomy class overlap wasn't going to be a major issue. Good to know. It is OK with me cuz I will end up taking Patho in the Spring.

So, in your opinion, should I be one of the first to drop off the application on Monday? Application week is Oct 25-29. Do you think it matters when during that week I turn in my application? I am trying to figure that out based on what you say about the date stamp? Let me know your opinion. Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it, as you know how hard it is to actually speak to Kristina White!!LOL!!!:)

Oh, one more question...

So, say I turn in my application next week but don't keep checking my status on the internet. Will I be informed as you say via email or letter? If it is going to be a long wait I really don't want to check back all the time if I do not have to. You had plenty of time to reply after receiving the letter, yes???

I turned in my application the Monday of application week early in the morning. My lottery # was 43. I have a friend who turned in her application the same week and her lottery # was 167. I was placed right away. My friend just got placed 2 days ago (apparently someone either differed or didn't respond to their letter). They tell you that the lottery #'s are random, and this might be the case, but if it were me, I would turn everything in first thing Monday morning. Glendale was my first choice and I got Glendale. You have 10 days to respond to the letter, but you can do so

via fax. Good luck and let me know what happens!! :)
