BIO 201 @ Rio Salado

Has anyone taken bio 201 or 202 online at rio salado? Thoughts? Easier? Harder? What was the class like? Did you have to take exams in person or online?

Yes I did. It's hard, but totally doable. The exams are in person. The weekly quizzes are online, and therefore open-book, although often they are timed so you can't hang around searching for answers - the time goes by fast!

You'll get out of it what you put into it. I assume you are doing this for nursing pre-req, so my advice would be to study as much as you can because you will need A&P once you get into nursing school so it's worth while laying a decent foundation.

I am taking BIO 202 at PVCC currently and my lab partner took 202 at Rio Salado and said she failed miserably hence taking it at PVCC now. I have heard that both math and science classes are the most difficult to take online. I would suggest taking the class in person at a MCC campus if your schedule permits it.

I actually agree - although I took them online, I think if you have the opportunity to take them in person, that is the better choice. I didn't have a choice due to work and family commitments, so I just had to make the best of it.

Thats why im considering it because I have 3 very little kids/toddler i stay home with. So my time is very limited. im annoyed that they dont offer it in an 8 week version like they do with 202. I would love to bust out 201 and 202 in the same semester so I can apply to the CEP in May. I guess ill just have to wait till the fall to apply.

Yeah - same for me, work and kiddos. I blasted out 4 classes, it about killed me, but it meant I made the May deadline! Rio has sign ups for classes every Monday, I thought? Can't you enroll now?

NO I can because they have block schedules and the class is only offered in 16 weeks and so it wont be over before the block ends. it ends dec 30th i think.

I took BIO 201 online through Central Arizona College. (they were offering it during the summer session when it was not an option elsewhere during the summer.) I would highly recommend the course. Everything (exams, papers, homework, lectures, etc) were all done online and from the comfort of my home (or hotel when I had to travel for work.) At times, it could be tedious and time consuming (although I was taking two other courses at the same time)...still very do-able for anyone. On a positive note, the credits easily transfer to Maricopa Community Colleges and to other places of higher learning.
