I have been a Paramedic for 19 years and an RN for about 1 1/2 years. I have been working at our rural hospital in the med/surg department since January '10. My wife has been an ICU nurse for 11 years. We live in Wisconsin and have been applying on-line in Arizona. (Hate the cold.) She wants ICU and I want ER. Our house is for sale and there may be an offer very soon. My worry is the house sells and no concrete job offers. Anybody have a crystal ball to tell us what our prospects are for a job in the Phoenix area?

With experience I'd say not too bad. Most of the hospitals around here are hiring, although ER is one of the hardest areas to get into as most hire internally for the coveted positions. If you're willing to stay med/surg or tele I'm sure you could find a job easily enough.

You two should have no problems, she should slide into ICU easy enough, I would be surprised if you didn't find one quickly. It's the New grads that are having the hardest time in AZ.

I recently moved to AZ from Upper Michigan (hate the cold, too!) Not sure what area you are looking at but I noticed there are a few ICU jobs at the brand new Banner Ironwood by where I live. I'd love to get a job there but unfortunately am a new grad and having difficulty!

Unfortunately, current Banner employees have first crack at the new Banner
Ironwood hospital.
