New Grad RN Jobs
Would you consider school here in MI? Do you have pre-req's done? I went to Bay College in Escanaba, MI. It has a really good reputation and no wait list when I got in the LPN program back in 2007. Their deadline to apply is April 1st and you find out in June if you get in. Just an idea. I tried going to an RN program in AZ and couldn't stand to wait 3 semesters (minimum) so I came back here and finished the RN program in 8 months. I've heard the wait lists are horrible for all the schools out there. Do you plan on working while you are in school? If you do stay out there for school and can't find a job in Lower MI when you move back, you can try Marquette General hospital, OSF St. Francis hospital, Helen Newberry Joy hospital, Schoolcraft memorial hospital, etc. They all hire new grads. Marquette is the biggest and a teaching hospital I did all my clinics there. These are all in the U.P. And if your looking non-hospital I can give you some more names. lol

Advice for a new grad!
This makes me nervous because I am about to start as a new grad on Med-Surg floor with 6 weeks orientation. Yikes! Any advice? If I were in your shoes I'd at least go to the interview and see what it's like.

New Grad RN Jobs
What part of Michigan are you from? I'm from the U.P. and can tell you the names of hospitals up here that I know hire new grads. As far as the lower peninsula I'm not sure about jobs, but I've heard it is harder to find hospital jobs down there in the cities (not sure about rural). If you want more info let me know! I graduated with a class of 50 people and no one had trouble finding jobs up here. Did you move to AZ to teach? I moved out there after graduation last May. I do like it there (don't miss the winter here!) and I really hope I can get a job out there once I get experience.

New Grad RN Jobs
I agree with you. I had to go very rural and many states away to get a hospital job. But it was worth it to me hoping that I will be able to come back and get a job once I have some experience. I'm hoping it doesn't take TOO long but with this economy I know I might be stuck here awhile but at least learning a lot!

New RN; take a job that's a bad fit or keep looking?
Hello, I am from Michigan, too. I am going to relocating back there in a week for a new job (new grad). I am just wondering what are you from and are you willing to relocate? I know hospitals (rural) that hire new grads. They are in Northern MI so I know that may not be an option for you.

New Grad RN Jobs
Thanks for the advice everyone, it's nice talking to people who know what I'm going through. GilbertAzRN Congrats on getting a job! Especially one that isn't too far away. I actually got the job I interviewed for and will be leaving for Michigan next week. It's an hour away from my hometown and on the med-surg floor. I'm not happy to leave my life here and my boyfriend but I need the experience and am hoping to move back here after I get it!

New Grad RN Jobs
Well I know this has been talked about before but I am just looking for any advice on where to find a new grad RN job in the Phoenix area (East Valley preferred). I have been applying for over 6 months to hundreds of jobs. I am wondering if anyone has advice or any specific places you would recommend applying to that may hire new grads. I appreciate any help because I am getting so frustrated! Also, not being from the area I am hoping maybe someone can have some advice on specific places I might have missed.

Curious about the new grads not finding jobs?
I'm really curious where any new grads in the Phoenix area are finding jobs. I moved here to AZ after graduation in May and would love any suggestions on where to apply.

Looking in Scottsdale, AZ
I'm a new grad who just moved to the area, too. I don't know much about Scottsdale. I live in the East Valley and like it. I'm out by Queen Creek which is a growing place. We also have a new hospital opening soon (Banner Ironwood) but getting a hospital job is nearly impossible. I'm still looking for a job after 3 months...

ASU or NAU for RN-BSN
I'm new to this so sorry if it has already been discussed. I am looking at getting my BSN online (I just recently became an RN and went to school in Michigan). I live in the east valley and and more interested in NAU but am wondering how it works doing clinicals then and if I have to drive to Flagstaff. Also which school is easier to get into or are they both competitive for RN-BSN program. I know I will have to take a few pre-reqs, too. Any advice on either school would be really appreciated, especially those who did either one and wouldn't mind a few questions from me :)

Arizona Jobs
I recently moved to AZ from Upper Michigan (hate the cold, too!) Not sure what area you are looking at but I noticed there are a few ICU jobs at the brand new Banner Ironwood by where I live. I'd love to get a job there but unfortunately am a new grad and having difficulty!

New Grad Starting in Subacute Rehab
How is the new job going now that you have had a few weeks? Just wondering because I start as a new grad at a subacute floor next week!
