Arizona excelsior

Does anyone know what hospitals in Tucson, AZ, Excelsior is using for students to complete their 120hrs preceptorship? I recently found out that excelsior will set up the preceptorship...Im just cursious where and if anyone has been through it? Any info would help! Thanks!

did you find out anything about the preceptorship? I am in Scottsdale. Let me know : )

I guess...when you finish your CPNE, you will be required to finish this preceptorship before you apply for graduation. Once the CPNE is complete you would send them $300.00 in order for them to process your request and one of the people that sit on the AZ nursing board would arrange for your preceptorship. So there is not a specific hospital in AZ..apparently theres quite a few.

Hey guys I contacted EC about this a few weeks ago and this was their response:

"Felicia,

Thank you for contacting us about the preceptorship. Yes you are a little early but it is good to be thinking about it. It will be some time before you are going to be eligible because after qualifying for the CPNE there will be a 5-6 month wait to get in to take that exam. Here is the basic information regarding the AZ Preceptorship:

When eligible: after successful completion of CPNE and before graduation

Administered by: Excelsior College

Number of hours in each specialty area & requirements:

Total of 120 hours required--

¿ 48 hours medical surgical nursing,

¿ 24 hours pediatric nursing, and

¿ 24 hours psych/mental health/behavioral nursing.

¿ 24 hours obstetrical nursing

Clinical site(s):

Central AZ Phoenix/Glendale: Arrowhead Hospital, Maryvale Hospital, Paradise Valley Hospital, Phoenix Baptist, Aurora Health

Goodyear: West Valley Hospital

Southern AZ: Tucson Medical Center

Fee: $300. Excelsior College Fee

We will automatically contact you after you pass the CPNE."

Hope this helps!

Since Excelsior is now getting into the preceptorship business, can't see why they can't make the same arrangements in other states.

I agree. Im not actually from AZ. Im from Virginia, but my hubby is AF and we just recently got stationed here. If we wouldve remained in VA, I wouldve been screwed by the legislation they started about Distance Learning. It worked in my favor, so I dont mind doing the preceptorship. Im not exactly sure where their deal is...it could make them an extra '$300' a student to do this in the states that are fighting them.

Depends on the state I'm guessing.
