Arizona entrance exam help

Published

Hello everyone!

I am new to this site, and so happy I have found it!

I am an AZ resident attempting to apply to the local community college Nursing Program.

(fast-track program as I already have a 4-year degree)

The Community Colleges recently changed from the NET entrance exam to the HES entrance exam.

Has anyone taken this here in AZ?

Is there a 'good' study guide to buy for this?

I have heard through the grapevine that some are just awful study guides and a waste of time and money...

Thank you to anyone who has further information for me!

-Anxious in AZ :)

I am in Scottsdale, AZ. I have not taken the Hesi test yet, as I still have some pre-reqs to complete. But I did buy the Admission Assessment Exam Review by Evolve Reach Powered by Hesi. It's all pretty basic stuff, basic math (addition, subtraction, decimals, fractions). There are reading, vocabulary, grammar, biology, chemistry, A&P and physics sections. I only refreshed on the math, reading, vocab and grammar, because at SCC I only have to get 75% on the math & reading sections. I'm planning on taking my test this fall when I am most of the way through A&PI.

The ISBN is 978-4160-5635-5

I bought the Evolve test guide and it was OK. There were things on the HESI that weren't covered in the guide. (At least as far as conversions go, I only had to take Math, reading, and grammar.)

I do have a question though... why not try ASU or GCU for their fast track BSN? (Not that the ADN is bad, but if you've got the 4 year degree already, I say try to use it to your advantage!)

I don't know how to link other posts but someone posted that the momex(?) study guide is pretty good too

This was from RB2000 on Jan 6 2010 on another thread

Hi all:

The study guide that is available on here is good as well. It has price tag of $40, but I think it is worth it. I used the Evolve study guide as well as the mo-metrix(not sure of spelling but this is online guide). I studied for about five days and aced every section (95.33% overall score). The study guides were easy to understand. They shared valuable testing tips in addition to the material. In fact, there were a couple of questions on my test that were almost word for word a couple of questions from the study guides.

The key is don't stress out! Prepare for the test and just go in there confident that you will do well. Success is when preparedness meets opportunity. When preparedness, opportunity, and confidence come together better look out!!! : ) Good luck to those that still need to take the test!

I took the HESI without studying for one second and got above a 92. I also have a degree but haven't been in school for 7 years. If you have a degree, it's going to be cake. There's basic math, reading comprehension, grammar, vocab, etc. Just make sure you memorize unit conversions and can convert to military time.
