  1. Wow...I never thought of that...thanks for the info. I start my CNA 5-week course in April...then do I apply to FTPN after? Or can I apply now? thanks so much!
  2. Sounds like I better start saving money if it takes a while to find a job... I volunteer at a hospital...so I am hoping that will help me get in based on the relationships I have built... cross fingers...
  3. how long after completing your CNA course did it take to find a job? I am starting the CNA course in April and was wondering how long I should expect to be out of a job for... thanks for your help!
  4. thank you both for the help! I am usually a sceptic of e-bay (past experiences) but will definitely start looking there!
  5. Hello Nurses! I am beginning a CNA program soon as I continue to wait on the VERY long RN school waiting list... A stethoscope is required the first day of class for CNA training. However, I was pretty shocked with the prices (online) for stethoscopes. I am looking for a Littmann Master Classic II, or Littmann Classic II se. I wanted to get feedback regarding these stethoscopes and also any tips on WHERE to find any used stethescopes for a cheaper price Thank you for any help/feedback! Jennifer
  6. Bliss - Unfortunately there are no programs here that are quick or that don't require pre-requisites. Do you have your Bachelors degree in something else? Have you taken your A&P part 1 & 2 yet? Along with Microbiology? If you have...that helps you with the pre-reqs. If not, you will have to take those and any additional courses that you may not have. I have all my pre-req's complete and I am currently on a wait list of 2+ years... unfortunately that's just how it is here (depending on the school). So let me know what pre-reqs you have and I can try and help any way I can. What part of the Valley are you moving too? Are you wanting to go to a Community College (tuition is about $7,000) or a University (tuition almost triple that)??? Let me know...sorry it's pretty difficult here. HIGH demand degree :-)
  7. uggggh...I survived the online Bio 202...and it was AWFUL! I will never take a course through Phoenix college again. The entire class was failing at one point because the instructor completely changed the syllabus, test format, grades, etc... If anyone is taking it in the future and you have an instructor by the name of Leo...cancel the class! :-) Now I have to take Bio 205 online...any advice on that one? I heard it was easier...?

Thank you 'fromthesea'. I actually volunteer at SHC hospital now and I am hoping to possibly get a USED steth from a Doctor or nurse. I didn't realize they were so expensive!?! But hopefully a used one for $40-$50 will come my way... oy...this is stressful thank you for the littman suggestion...i will definitely look into it!

Hi all - So since I am still waiting to get into the RN program, I have decided to enter the 5-week CNA certificate program at SCC. At least that will get my foot in the door with a hospital...?! I think the waiting game has caught up with me...and I just want to do something in the healthcare system... Has anyone taken this course? How much did you pay for a stethescope? Does anyone have any used books? Thanks for any advice/info! Jenn
  10. Hi abvincent - I do have my Bachelor's in Communication from ASU (2004). Right now I am taking an online class (bio 202 human anataomy/physiology) because it is a pre-req. Then I will be all finished and just ...waiting....waiting.... I was going this route to complete the fast track program of 18 months. I heard it was the cheapes route to go. Thanks for the info...I will look in to this. You know...you never know what the heck is going on until someone like you offers their point of view and/or experience. Thank you!!
  11. Hi Inspired! Who quoted you that 5 semester wait? I'd love to see where I'm at...probably in the same boat. :-( What were your top school choices?
  12. I have that as my date stamp also. Mine was at 8:02:20 a.m. I hate the idea of waiting 2 years myself!
  13. I completely agree with you! I have a hard time paying so much money at Chamberlain or even Grand Canyon...when the community college program is under $7,000. I figure, 2 years will pass by me anyway, I might as well wait and hope that I get in sooner. At least we are now stamped!!
  14. It did...I just didn't remember what the seconds were... Congrats! Now we both wait :-)
  15. I am starting Bio 202 via Phoenix College this weekend (online course). Has anyone taken this? If so, how was it? I took Bio 201 last year...but couldn't actually memorize the materials as it was so overwhelming and too quick. I ended up with a B in the class...but began to HATE Saturdays (test taking day online)... Thanks for the help! I work full-time and wanted to get my feelers out if I should go ahead or wait and take it in person?
