Aria Health School of Nursing - Jan 11'

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Just wanted to see who else was currently applying for the January 11' start date. My application is in RAP review as of today. I went in with like a 3.2GPA and did very well on my TEAS. I scored an 87% on it which put me in the 94th percentile nationwide. When I went on the interview I was told the TEAS score was very good and my GPA was good as well. I'm kind of bugging out. I want this so bad because I don't want to wait a whole year to re-apply for the fall classes. Finger's crossed. Anyone else out there applying now as well?

I saw and idk. Im obesessing trying to find any information I can. Which is how I ended up here. :p

so im guessing theyre not going to give us another checklist for all the things we have to send in now that we are accepted?? theres alot.

Hey everyone, I was also accepted to Aria for January 2011. We should be recieving more information from Aisha soon about times and purpose of the mandatory orientation days. I talked to her the other day and she said its typically 9-3 the first day and around 9-12 the second day and that is when we will be registering for our classes. Does anyone else have classes that would normally be taken while in school but already have them completed? I have around 12 that I should get credit for so i am just wondering how this will affect my schedule, will my days be shorter or do i need to add classes to fill my schedule in.

you generally get transfer credit for the classes that are already taken, as long as they will accept them. You will find that out at registration or shortly there after. I am a 2 year student at Aria, and have transferred many of my classes in, so eventually towards the end of my time at the school there may end up being time when I only have to take the nursing course and now Penn State courses. I also never have to take a Penn State semester where as many other students have to take 2 Penn State rotations during there time at Aria, thus I an possibly you will graduate 2 terms sooner than other students starting at the same time as me. I hope this has helped you.

sorry my grammar was messed up in my previous post, I have a fever and my 3 year old is trying to crawl all over me as I'm typing :(

classes are for the Penn state courses either 8:00 to 11:30 or 1:00-4:30 and those are one day a week, you usuallly take 2 penn state classes and one nursing class. PSU are anywhere from 3 to 4 credit classes and then one nursing course which is a 11-12 credit course depending on your level. Nursing classes consist of 2 theory days and 2 clinical days. Clinical days are from 7:00am to 3:00pm.....so let me give you an example of my typical week this semester

Monday 1:00-4:30 Stats class (PSU class)

Tuesday 8:00-11:30 Nursing Theory

1:00-4:40 Health Assesesment (PSU Class)

Wednesday 8:00-11:30 Nursing Theory

Then I have to go to the hospital where my clinical is at thursday and friday and look up on my patient (you don't start to do this until your second semester)

Thursday & Friday 7:00-3:00 Clinical......You must be at you agency by 7:00 or you are late......Sent home to have to make up the day and pay $200.....

Don't be scared it's FUN I promise :)

Thank you Nep, that did help. Sorry to hear your not feeling well, I have a 3 yr old as well. When i was looking over like the class lineup per semester, i ended up already having a few that would normally be taken within the first few semesters so i wasn't sure if i would have an earlier day since i have them. I also would like to take the three classes required for the associates and figured i could take them in place of some classes that Ive already completed. So how many clinical days do first year students have?

you have 2 clinical days no matter what level, just you don't have look up during your first semester. they will move up PSU classes if you have ones that would normaly be done during the first semester. The way the schedule is set is for a fresh out of high school student. For instance, my first semester I had patho and patient ed then I took Nursing 111, Management and Pharm the second semester and now Health assessment with Nursing 210 my third semester rather than doing a PSU rotation, other students did a PSU rotation to catch up on many of these classes and others that I already transfered in, as well as after this semester some students are not going on to Nursing 211, which I am, instead they will be doing another PSU rotation..... Does this make sense.....

by PSU rotation, do you mean like micro, eng, soc - things like that? and will my clinical hours be 7-3 two days as well, when i first start? where are your clinicals at this semester?

Yes you will have clinical on thursday and fridays during nursing 110, from 7-3 and its at a nursing home during that semester. During Nursing 111, I was at Frankford campus of Aria and now I am at Torresdale's Aria campus. 111 semester clinical was Tuesday and Wed, and now in 210 my clinical is Thursday Friday again. When I say a PSU rotation I mean its a semester where people dont take a nursign course so they have PSU classes only so instead of taking nursing and 2 PSU classes they take like 5 PSU classes

your orientation is soon

oh awesome. My name is Evelyn, whats yours? what will you be doing there that day? And its pretty cool getting information before i actually start because i can plan things better, my son is in preschool so knowing what days i need someone to take him and/or pick him up helps alot. Now with doing a PSU rotation, doesnt that push students back in terms of nursing classes? I imagine you cant double up on those. What nursing home will I be at my first semester, is there a specific one ?
