Unless you work for free, you are in it for the money to some degree in my opinion.

I have moments of caring. I find the work interesting, and often entertaining. I want and and depend on my paycheck for my livelihood, and many aspects of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

If the farmers didn't get paid, how would you provide food on the table?
You gonna milk a cow and slaughter them all by yourself? It ain't easy
Which would be better? A suspension bridge designed from a highly paid civil engineer
Or a weak bridge designed by a low paid engineer.
Employees need to be rewarded for their hard work!

I'll admit , the money was very much a deciding factor, along with the procedural / technical side of it, hence why I work only in the technology rich operating room -
i never claimed to be an angel of mercy, and never will...however-- I'm a damn good nurse
