Are there videos of nursing procedures?

Published

Does anyone know where I might find videos of basic nursing procedures just to be sure I am doing something right?

Thanks!

ooo...that would be cool. i second the question!

Is there any particular procedure you're interested in seeing? I've gone to Youtube and found many videos on IV and NG tube insertion, but have not looked up other procedures. I'm sure Youtube might have some; just do a search on whatever you're interested in. You just might find what you're looking for!

I got a whole bundle of DVDs with nursing procedures with my textbook package. They are excellent step-by-step videos. I'll check the publisher info and post it here this evening.

Thank you! That would be awesome!

Mosby makes videos with nursing procedures. My school shows the video, then demonstrates in the lab, and then has us practice!

:hdvwl:I find that I don't get enough practice, one day in the lab working on mannequins is just not enough, is it?

I had to buy a bundle of DVDs for my fundamentals class. They were published in conjunction with "Fundamentals of Nursing" by Lillis, Taylor and Lemone. Bet you could find them used on amazon or half.

our hospital subscribes to a webservice called mosby's nursing skills. it is a very valuable tool. for example, if you type in fecal impaction or any other skill, it will give you these various icons:

- quick sheet (general overview of steps)

- check list (great to have for competency testing)

- list of supplies

- test

- demonstration (this is the video portion)

- illustrations

- extended text.

again, this is something our hospital subscribes to, but here is the information.

Elsewhere on this site, someone posted a link to Assisted Learning For All that I thought was pretty cool.

i read a recent article in american nurse today about a dvd with 10 competency modules developed to assist new nurses with the most common situations they will face. the person i contacted to buy one of the dvds ($20) was

elizabeth c. poster, phd, rn, faan

dean, uta school of nursing

editor, journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing

if you want the e-mail address, let me know or i can forward to you the order form.
