I am approaching the end of my military enlistment and my plan is to attend a nursing school. The problem for me is that I am nervous that I won't be able to start as soon as I get out because of the waiting lists. I am 28, married with two toddlers, I can't afford to sit around and wait. Does anyone know of any colleges that doesn't have a waiting list? I live in Virginia Beach, VA. This issue is driving me CRAZY!!
Future-nurse, I'd like to know if these programs you're applying to are universities, private schools, or community colleges. If you dont mind, please send me a list of the lottery schools. you can pm me if you want. To the OP, check out Johnson&Johnson's website discovernursing .com. There is a link there for nursing schools w/o a waiting list. I dont know if any of those schools are in VA., but its worth a try. Best of luck to u. -Ladyashleyd

Sorry that I didn't give that information to begin with. I was talking about community college adn programs. If that is what you are looking for feel free to personal message me and I will try to help out.
There are tons of schools but they usually are....
-private schools with very pricey tuition(you could probably get some financial aid & just be in debt after school)
-outside of major cites in lower populate areas(I am going to be applying to a couple programs here in Colorado with pretty much no wait list)
-BSN programs
-Also many CC's are not wait list but competitive
I would go on your state board of nursing site and look up all the programs and just call every school on the list and ask them :) If you are willing to relocate there are tons of progrms out there too
Good luck

If you are willing to move to Southern California there are tons of programs without waitlists. (I applied to 12 different "Lotteries" this last application period)
You basically apply and if you have your pre-req/general ed done your name gets put into a hat and if you are one of the 40 or so drawn out then you get in on the first try. They call it a "lottery" and I didn't like the idea since I had high grades until I got picked on my first time applying.
If you have any questions about the SoCal programs just message me.
