Hi Everyone!
I have been feeling so bad for all of those poor people in Florida, but I just don't know what I can do to help. Are any of your schools sponsoring food/clothing/supply drives? If they are how are they going, and how would I start something like that?
Thanks in Advance,
Graceful

I go to school in Florida and we have nursing students working at hurricane shelters in South Florida and Pensacola. I also believe our SNA is sponsoring some sort of food drive.
I've not been directly affected by these storms, but have several friends and family members who have. Everyone is getting really tired of dealing with these hurricanes. I'm sure any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.

My school is taking donations...both monetary and supply wise. Also, the place I work at is having a big fundraiser and they are matching the amt raised. All of these will go to help the hurricane victims in FL as well as here in Alabama.

WOW! What a wonderful person you are. I live in Florida and have and still am been affecting by these hurricanes. They have been coming back to back. As a matter of fact, we are experiecing very heavy winds right now, and its very dangerous outside. I, myself am trying to study (poor me) before my lights decide they wanna go out. Also, school doesnt stop even during the storm. They are gonna keep the tests coming expecting us to keep on task. Thanks for being so caring, we really need people like you during times like this.

Our nursing program is collecting clothing to send down to Florida. It was one girl's idea for a service project and it just ballooned up to include everyone. If yiu're not sure how to start one up, I would go to one of your instructors who would be able to tell you the next step you need to take.

I am thinking about suggesting a school wide drive for them... I was going to do it with Charlie because he was so bad...but now we diffenatley need to do something just because they have had so many. I pray for them...

Scroll about halfway down to see the links and suggestions for donations.
And thank you! Many people are currently without utilities in the wake of these hurricanes, and many thousands have lost their homes to these devastating storms.

My school has been doing a lot because we are in the Charley area (my clinicals were supposed to be in Port Charlotte but were changed because those hospitals are only operating the ER's right now). They have done drives, etc. etc. I didn't look at that link posted but I'm sure it is good. My county has been hit by Charley, Frances, and Jeanne (just got my electricity back at midnight)... I know that the Red Cross is also prominant in the hard hit areas (and FEMA of course). I could write all day with all kinds of stories but just want to say thanks for the concern! :)
