Are there any Oklahoma ABSN students out there?

Hello,

I would like some information on the program, how do you like it? Would you pick this school again if you had the chance? I am applying to the program that is being held here in San Diego. I am nervous about the online portion of the program, is it do-able? :uhoh3:

Thanks!

thanks, i hope so! you are so lucky you didn't have to clep anything! =)

Hey,

I applied to Summer 08 too!!!! I went to Cal State San Marcos and got a BA in sociology. They said we'll find out if we got in the first week in April!!

Yay! I hope we all get in, we can be a ready-made study group!! :yeah:

Wannabe07--I also had to CLEP two pre-reqs. Did you have any problems "posting" them to a different schools transcript? Thanks!

I have had so much drama with these darn CLEPs. Which ones did you have to take? I took the English with Essay and am trying to take the Freshman English with essay one this week (I had to order materials for it through the testing site, big mess, but OU is aware of the problem so they said as long as I am registered for it, then everything should be ok). I was told to send the transcript to my JC, which was Grossmont College. Where are you sending yours? This whole CLEP thing is awesome that we can just test through classes but what a pain in the butt it has been!! What about you? Thanks!

I took English Comp with Essay and History CLEP exams. The English Comp was a pain b/c I had to wait so long for the results and I was nervous because I ran out of time on the essay. History was tough b/c I didn't know much and had to study a lot. I'm on the waiting list at National and City but because I'm not "working towards a degree" they're being kind of cranky about "evaluating" them and having them show up on my transcript. I'm not sure if OU is going to overlook it or if I'll have to figure out a way....good luch with your exam!

I'm also on the list at Grossmont....have you had them posted on a transcript yet?

I also ran out of time on the essay! I was so nervous to get my results, couldn't remember if I finished the essay or not, was it mid-sentence when it timed out? I passed though, thank God! I am sure the history one was hard. The other english one will be a pain too but the study guide is basically the same as the other english test so I'm not worried, just want to get it over with!

I have yet to have them posted on a transcript. Once I get the results from the other test then I will. I'm so confused about the credit process but a lady from OU called me from OK and said that they are trying to establish their policies on the whole CLEP thing so she didn't even know how it works with credit and such. She said to just keep in contact with our counselors out here to figure it all out. So who is going to give you credit for the CLEPs? Do you have credits at Grossmont? I did all my pre-reqs there so hopefully they won't have a problem giving me credit?

What school did you get your original bachelor at?

I got my BS in Health Sciences on the east coast. I was in the military and moved here from the Boston area.

I am sure your degree will be helpful in nursing! Mine was in Human Development from UCSD.

Do you work now? Have kids? Any suggestions about financial aid? I'll be quitting my job to go to school. I have a 6 month old son. Any idea what the schedule will be like? I heard the first 7 months will be a 2-day per week commitment in clinicals. Is that what you heard?

I do work now but will be going to per-diem status when I start OU. I do not have any kids yet, but plan on having some after I graduate! Regarding financial aid, have you filled out a FAFSA yet? Fill one out and designate OU as a recepient of your info, the financial aid office will send you an award letter. I haven't received mine yet for this semester coming up but received one when I was accepted in January.

I only know about the twice a week clinical. But I think we will be required to sign-on online daily or something like that, not sure. What happens after the first seven months, do we have to do more clinical days after that?

You have a six month old? How fun, I love that age! Will you have the baby at home with you except when we are in clinical?

I am so nervous to hear if we are in. I am still hung up on this CLEP business. Aargh, can't wait until that is taken care of.
