Are newly graduating LVN/LPN's finding jobs?

Published

I'm 1/4 of the way through LVN school and debating on whether I should finish. Reason: I'm hearing there are no jobs available. I'm 50 yrs old and I don't want to waste and invest any more of my time and money if I won't be able to obtain employment once I graduate and get my license. :uhoh3:

You are hearing that .... but do not let the non movers and shakers bring you down.... You will have to sell and market the best service in America ..YOU!!!!

Thank you for your kind words.:o

take a look at my info page .. I know of what I speak ....15 yrs in the HR Staffing and recruiting world .. Presentation and Networking

I live in TN and I was able to find a job upon passing the NCLEX. There are jobs for LPNs. I actually had an interview the day before I took boards and the staffing coordinator told me I was hired as long as I passed my boards the next day.

I have had my LVN license for exactly 8 months now. I have filled out over 200 applications and have had 8 interviews with no LVN job to show for it.I serisously would stop going to the LVN school. There are way too many students putting in like 30 grand at private schools to find that it was a waste. Even RNs are suffering. I am moving onto physical therapy

Just grad back on the 25th of May as a LVN. Started looking for jobs 3 weeks ago and Ive got one here, in Tx, thats paying 21.00hr 8-5 w/ benefits,401k, stock options. Needless to say IM STOKED. Keep ur head up and dont forget you can use your LVN as a stepping stone to RN

If you love the path you are taking, I say pursue it with all your heart.

There will always be nay sayers and negative energy, but love and courage go together, and courage conquers fear. I believe if you stick out LVN school you will find a way to make it work out. Good luck!

Go ahead and finish. I am 53 years old and starting LPN school in Sept. in Mi of all places. There are a lot of jobs out there for us. You will probably have one before you finish your training as long as you pass the boards. Good luck!

Specializes in AS Degree, CNA.

What State are you located in?

There are lots of jobs out there for LPN's. So what if they do not have job open's for us in the hospitals! From what I see, RN's are over worked in the hospital with low staff and causing them all kinds of health problems, I don't want to work in a hospital EVER because of that(just my opinion, we all need to stay healthy for ourselves and our families)! Whenever I see a job listed for an RN, they list LPN's too in certain fields of course, but I am cool with that. I live in Missouri, and when I go out on Craig's List, there is always something for everyone in the health field. NO PHASING OUT OF ANYONE!! Right now, there is openings for RN's and LPN's to give flu shots from September thru December. There are several different clinics hiring for this, but we have to be careful which one we choose to work for and research them. I feel confident with being an LPN and feel that New LPN Grads can and will find a nursing job if they stay motivated and ambitious on finding one! Good Luck to all you LPN's out there. There is jobs for us out there!
