Calling All Newbies!

As a newly hired informatics nurse, I've been perusing the website and reading similar stories about graduate programs, job searching, learning the role, etc. I'd like to start a network of new informatics nurses (either in school, or in the field for less than a year or two). It seems like we are all going through nearly the same process, just at slightly different points in time.

If you are interested, please reply here. I cannot send anyone a private message yet (I have to create 15 Quality Topics before I have the ability to do that), but I'm sure we can figure out a way to connect.

Thanks!!

Why the sarcasm? You asked a question and I answered it honestly.

Ok I understand why you took it that way. When I put the face next to thank you it didn't say that it meant being sarcastic nor did it look like a sarcastic face. Reading it on my phone I see that it says sarcastic. Sorry I just meant to put a smiling face next to Thank You and that was the first one I picked.

You're welcome. Technology can make you more crazier.

I'm a new informatics nurse as of this Monday! I'm just finishing up my last 3 nights of bedside and then it's off to the IT department. My actual title is "Business Analyst" in the Clinical Applications Team but we are all part of the informatics department. Having no background in IT I'm nervous but very excited to start this new chapter in my nursing career!

Can you work from home?

Count me in!

I am a floor nurse but hoping to transition to NI. Very difficult in my rural area but I am trying not to lose hope. I have participated in a GoLive at my current facility as a credentialed trainer and I am aiming for a Clinical Nurse Analyst position at my old workplace. I would love to network and compare notes.

Clinical analysts can work from home (at least at our facility) we just use Citrix to remote in. I will say it's harder working at home then in the office mostly due to monitor setup. I won't be doing time at home until I have my dual monitors because I can't imagine building on one screen.

I still consider myself new to informatics. I've been at it for a year and a half now.
