I work in the OR. It all depends on what the facility allows.
But i will say, and i'm not meaning to put a black cloud over anything, but there's usually quite a few RNs that don't like LPNs being in a specialty area, and make that known frequently. Not meaning to be negative, it's just something to prepared for.
I have worked in critical care for over 20 years but I am getting ready to work in ER some hospitals will only take you into a speciality area if you have experience. I started out as a CCU Tech before I went to school so I had a job when I got out, but even that doesn't matter sometimes. I knew a CCU tech that went to school and the place that hired me wouldn't hire her.So who knows

Can a LPN work in speciality nursing like OB/GYN, cardio etc or do you have to be a RN to do anything besides regular bedside?
