Hello Everyone!
I am curious if anyone knows if there are any agencies or job boards that place US nurses in foreign countries? I am a labor and delivery nurse and would love to work abroad. All I ever see are postings for international nurses to come to the US. Is there a reason for that? Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated!

You have to be able to meet the licensing requirements for that country, which means if the national language is not English, you will be required to take their nursing boards in their language.
The common countries that you see for placement are the UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Some of the Middle Eastern countires are also available to you but there is a problem with getting a visa for many of those countires right now.
Hope that this helps.....................

US military hospitals often hire US civilian nurses.

Also, many of those countries require you to be a midwife to work in L&D, so American nurses don't meet the qualifications (though they can work in other areas).

Just a suggestion................try contacting nursing agencies and speak with them about qualifications required for the different countries. I have had contact with Geneva Health and they were very helpful. :)

Helen Zeigler and Associates is a Canadian firm that will place both Canadian and US nurses in foreign countries. I used them when i went to Saudi.
