it has been 3 1/2 years since the crash of 2008......are jobs finally becoming more plentiful? (any position...lpn or rn)

Definitely improving where I am. When I started nursing school back in early 2010, the local area hospitals hired NO new grads fro their OWN SCHOOLS! I graduated in December and I would say about 65% or more of us are already working. Definite improvement. :)

I actually have a similar question that relates to the issue of jobs being available. I have been browsing my local hospital job postings and it doesnt look like there are any shortages of positions available. I am located in the Dallas area and almost all the hospitals I have looked at have 15-30 RN positions open. The website has had that many openings for about 8 months when I first began browsing their websites. I know as a new grad those jobs might be harder to get because of no experience etc but is there any logical explanation for why their seem to be so many jobs available on paper? Not sure if its just the area or if there is another underlying reason there are so many positions not being filled even though so many people are saying there are no jobs....

Southeastern WI- nursing jobs are more available now than they had been. Just checking around...mostly in the burbs, but there are job postings.

Specializes in Ambulatory Surgery, PACU,SICU.

I think it is better, I am in the midwest, applied for 5 jobs and received an offer for the SICU weekend package at a Trauma 1 hospital. I have 2.5 years experience in Ambulatory Surgery at a diferrent hospital.
