Sorry I know this isn't exactly related but I figure many people here work in hospitals and would be able to advise me. I am trying to become a P.A. and get my direct-care experience and on a lot of P.A. forums they say being an EMT/Emergency Room Tech is the best way to go in terms of exposure and experience. However I can never find any job postings for emergency tech's in NJ! Is this just not a common position in this area of the country? I would be an EMT and probably will get my EMT-B training in the next 6 months but unfortunately most EMTs are volunteer around here and I need a way to support myself. Also EMTs spend a lot of time waiting around for calls.
Since this forum has a busy NJ forum I hoped posting here might get me some answers. I thought about nursing for a while too....I think I just need to get into the healthcare field and get a lot more exposure to all the mid-level care opportunities out there!

I don't believe these positions are openly offered by the hospitals. Your best bet is to go to human resources at hospitals and look at their job oppurtunities. I know Virtua Memorial in Mt. Holly has openings.

Our Lady of Lordes Medical Center in Camden and Burlington are also hiring Emergency Techs...
I think most of the hospitals in south jersey do, you just have to go to the postings on their websites.
good luck

Try Clara Mass Medical Center in Belleville, one of my friends work there and says they are always hiring ED techs.

You have to apply online, the good thing is they offer 12 hr shifts for techs, good luck!
