Are there any camps that hire student nurses?

Published

I'm a first year ASN student, and I was wondering if there are any camps out there that hire student nurses. I live in NY, so camps in the NE region of the states would be ideal, but I could travel if it would mean experience.

Anyone know of any places?

Thanks!

Try Clara Barton Camp in North Oxford, MA! They are a camp for girls with diabetes. There is also a boys camp. I worked there for 2 summers and loved it. I still do the occasional weekend program :)

Camp Longhorn in Texas does.

my first job after graduation was as a camp nurse - 36 yrs ago

took a little break for work and kids and now have used vacation time/time off for the past 25 summers to do camp nursing - absolutely love it

looks good on your resume as well

heyy i saw your other post about a "jewish" camp.. or many jewish campers and staff. where is this located?

I am finishing 3rd year nursing.. would i work alongside the RN? or report to the RN??

thanks!

If you are still looking when i was in school i worked at the Elliott P Joslin camp for boys with diabetes (Camp Joslin) To this day it was the best job i've ever had. i loved it! they also have a camp for girls called Clara Barton. That was way back in 1991 but they still have a strong program and I learned alot about caring for kids with diabetes. the camp is in Charlton, MA not far from Worchester, MA. They usuallyhire about 5-6 student nurses per summer overseen by anRN as medical director. Check out the Joslin diabetes center website (Boston,MA) if you are still interested.
