Aquiring your Bachelors

Published

I'm on progress to graduate from the RN program in May. My debate is wether or not to take a year off of school and soley practice nursing or if I should immediately begin obtaining my Bachelor's. Is there a great benefit to obtaining your Bachelor's right away?

I say, assuming you find employment quickly, that you take a year to focus on acquiring actual practice skills & transitioning to your new role.

and if you can't find a job in a hurry (which is likely) and you can qualify for admission, you might as well go for it. getting a bachelor's degree right away is cheaper than doing it later, and it's over and done with. call a few of the local universities and ask for information. note: i do not recommend an online or other for-profit school. the costs are much too high, and they will hound you forever for the money even if you can't finish a course because of their technical difficulties.

I agree with the previous posters. However, I am not against all online degrees. Yes some are extremely over priced and do not have a good reputation. There are plenty of University's that offer online BSN's at reasonable prices and a good reputation, you just have to do some research. If you search the threads you will find some first hand reviews of some online programs.

I also agree with the above. My university offers an online RN to BSN program. If you're interested or just want an idea of what their track is like, you can PM for details. I'm sure other universities have similar programs.
