Hello everyone,

I am in the process of applying to APU ELM program for Spring of 2019. I was just looking to connect to other applicants. I will be applying to the main campus. If anyone has any questions feel free to post, I have found the older forums from previous cohorts to be very helpful when looking for advice.

The wait is killing me. Lol

@somedayfnp That would be great to start in August! It's also awesome that it's a shorter program. Is it 3 years?

Did anyone ask how we would be informed of an admissions decision email? phone call? or regular mail?

On forums for previous cohorts it looks like it could be email, phone or letter. I also saw a couple posts about people's statuses changing to "student" on the APU student portal before they actually heard any news. I hope they do email or phone calls so we find out sooner rather than a mailed letter.

@somedayfnp

You mentioned getting into other programs... I really don't see you not getting accepted into this program as well. You're an excellent candidate! You're going to be accepted! I'm putting the good vibes that you hear sooner than later! (:

Do you know where that status change would be? On my student center there isn't a section that says "completed application" or "pending decision" etc like other applications have. I did email Shirley today with a question about something else so perhaps she will give a timeline regarding decisions too.

I'm not sure exactly, sorry.

Who all applied to SD again? It sounds like based on previous posts they notify students earlier than the other locations. It's the only campus I applied to so if I hear anything next week I'll make sure to let you all know ASAP. The wait has been so hard but we're almost there!

I believe the MSN at Western is 1.5 years full time then you get your RN and work and finish the next 1.5 years part time. So 3 years for the MSN and then one additional year for the FNP. So 4 years total. But I signed a lease in Pomona today so I'm gonna be turning down my spot at APU (if I even get one lol). Good luck to everyone!! I hope you all hear good news!!

@miezsabo

Thank you!! That's very kind to say! Of the 6 programs I applied to, I got into USD and western but was rejected from APU for Fall, rejected from Samuel Merritt, and waitlisted at University of Hawaii, and I'm still waiting on USF.

I've decided to accept my spot at western cuz it's a good program and it starts sooner. It's just a whole lot more expensive lol but that's okay!! We're all gonna be NPs someday and we can pay it back! :)

@somedayfnp

I understand. I wish you all the best! Western is going to be really lucky to have you at their institution! (:

And you're right, we're all going to become NP's even if all of our journeys are a bit different getting there.

Good luck and kick butt at western!

Congrats @somedayFNP !! This has been a long journey for all of us, so knowing we're taking the next step is a major victory. all the best at Western!
