Hello everyone,

I am in the process of applying to APU ELM program for Spring of 2019. I was just looking to connect to other applicants. I will be applying to the main campus. If anyone has any questions feel free to post, I have found the older forums from previous cohorts to be very helpful when looking for advice.

I had my interview. They said late April or early May for finding out. They also mentioned faith based outreach as being a huge deciding factor.

@aschreiman I wore business attire and the essay is so easy. It's just a little article you summarize and give your opinion of. Just to see that you can communicate effectly in writing. And the main questions they ask are why nursing and why Azusa :)

@SomedayFNP

I think my interviewer said by May 4th to receive news on acceptance. Did you say you got accepted to a program in SD? Looks like this is the first week of interviews. I know they are also interviewing next week as well, but I do not know how many applications they received this cycle. Were you able to review your point value during your interview?

Yeah I was accepted into the MEPN at USD but it's a CNL program and I desperately want a FNP program. No I didn't get to see how many points I have. She just went over the categories in which I was missing points.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you stats. I'm looking into usd as well

Yeah no problem! So my undergrad gpa wasn't that great (3.31). I have a BA in Philosophy from UC Santa Barbara.

I have a 4.0 in all the prereqs but I'm still missing chemistry which I'm taking now.

I'm a CNA and have been working as a cna for over a year now. Both my parents are doctors so I have years of unofficial job shadow experience but I wanted something official so I did a 100 hour volunteership at Kaiser. I also worked on campus leading a team of 20 students to put on blood drives and health related campus events.

I'm also currently taking medical terminology and conversational spanish and my interviewer said that looks really good.

@Nursinglove123

Are you looking for a NP program? The reason I'm turning down USD is cuz they specifically said that this is not an NP program so if that's what you're looking for this program isn't for you

Another thing to all who have yet to interview. They super emphasize faith based outreach and international experience. So if you have one or the other or both MENTION IT IN THE INTERVIEW. I didn't mention that I studied abroad in Spain last time I interviewed and I hopestly might have gotten in had I mentioned that. They have a whole category for international experience

What do you mean by faith-based outreach? examples?

@somedayfnp Congrats on USD! That's awesome! :)

Community outreach but through the church. So like missionary work but I think it can be anything that helps the community but through the church.

@hca4 thank you!! :)
