Nursing Students School Programs

Hello Everyone :)

I am looking to apply for the Fall 2018 ELM program at APU. I'll be done with my bachelors early 2018 and finishing up Organic Chemistry before I submit my application. I'm making this post to see where other people are at looking to apply and we all can help each other out if needed. Good luck to everyone :)

Congrats to all the acceptance recipients. Just wondering if they notified everyone before the holiday break, or if there is still hope for others to receive good news regarding acceptance.

@Rs_alln did you also receive your acceptance before Christmas?

@ftrprovider Yep, I was notified on Dec 21st.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this board and will be applying for Spring of 2019 and I am currently working on my Letter to the Dean and was wondering what you guys wrote about? It states to write about educational and professional goals but I am having a hard time getting started, any suggestions?

I am also feeling uneasy about being a qualified candidate after reading the stats of those who have gotten in.

I have B.S. in Health Science, cumulative GPA 3.45

Science Prereqs.

Anatomy(5 units)- B

Physiology(4 units)- A

Microbiology(4 units)- A

Ochem/Biochem- Will be taking this spring

Non-Science Prereqs

Verbal- B

Written- B

Psych- A

Human Growth and develop.- A

Stats- A

Research Methods- A

As far as experience goes I am currently a Medical Assistant and have been working at the same practice for a year and a half now. I have well over 1,000 hours of patient care experience.

@aschreiman those are great stats, I think you will be fine!

As for my Letter to the Dean, I pretty much broke it down to 3 sections: my motivation to become a nurse/np, my experiences as a cna and shadowing experiences, and what I hope to accomplish in the future of if I am an np (also added why I chose APU). My letter of dean was my personal statement. You want to try to stand out as a candidate and talk about why you're choosing this career. I hope this helps!

@kplam Thanks for the help! what format did you use for the letter to the dean? double spaced or single spaced?

If you don't mind me asking were you admitted for the fall 2018 term?

@aschreiman my letter was single spaced. I actually got into summer 2019 term.

@kplam

Sorry for all the questions, did you put it in a letter format or an essay format? and how long was yours?

Hi everyone! Just letting those of us that haven't gotten acceptances know, I called to ask regarding my status, and was told that the ground mail with results can be expected this week or next week.

I am suspectful that I didn't get in because I didn't get an email, but I don't mind waiting for next application cycle!

Thank you all so much for your supports, and hopefully I will see you guys in the future! :D

Hi all, just wanted to let you know that many people have received acceptances in December, but if you didn't that doesn't mean you didn't get in. I was just notified of acceptance for Fall 2018 FNP program (IE campus) today and there will be some more to come in January. I also wanted to let everyone know that this is my 3rd time applying. I have a BS in health science, 3.2 overall GPA, 3.4 last 60, and 3.8 prereq. I've been working as a bicycle mechanic the last 5 years, but have volunteer experience w/ nursing and PA but no paid positions. Since my first time applying, I improved my essay, took more classes (psych, nutrition, interpersonal communication), became a microbio TA, and volunteered more. I just wanted to give those hope that have been out of school for a while and don't have the best stats or experience. Reapplying is a GOOD idea!!! Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard and to those applying. Looking forward to seeing others at school.

Hello @BR89! Thank you so much for your hopeful words! Just wondering, was your acceptance also through email or ground mail? And were you given interview all three times?

I am trying to prepare myself for the re-application for Spring, and I am wondering if I need to re-submit all my items again or do they re-use them? Thanks in advance, and CONGRATS!!!! XD I am glad your perseverance finally paid off and hope you can rub some good luck onto me too! Haha

I am wondering the same, I don't want to have to ask my recommendations for another recommendation :(

Hi everyone, I've been following the post. Seems like most people got into Spring or Summer 2019. I was accepted into Fall 2018, anyone else?
