APU ELM Fall 2018

Published

Hello Everyone :)

I am looking to apply for the Fall 2018 ELM program at APU. I'll be done with my bachelors early 2018 and finishing up Organic Chemistry before I submit my application. I'm making this post to see where other people are at looking to apply and we all can help each other out if needed. Good luck to everyone :)

@gwmjnp Congrats! did you receive an email about your admission for I.E. or a phone call??

@ eikejulia I received a phone call from San Diego Campus. I don't received any emails bout status changed. I emailed Renee about that and she said Graduate Admissions sends official letters to students so i will be hearing from them. She said the letter may not come until after January 1.

@cheriex3 Congrats! Look forward to meeting you!

@SomedayFNP here are my stats:

Graduated with Accounting major with a cumulative GPA of 2.9. Went back to my local CC and retook classes and prereqs, so last 60/90 units was a 3.9. Volunteered for CCE for 2 years, and currently a CNA for 2 years. Honestly, I was surprised that I got an interview and acceptance. I think what helped me with my app was my strong letter of recommendations and my experience as a CNA because that was the first thing she commented on during my interview.

I also want to comment on for those who didn't get in, please and don't lose hope! Reapply! If you have any questions or need help with anything like apps, I will be happy to help! I understand the struggle and during app processes, I wish I had someone to help or guide me. Feel free to email me at [email protected] about anything! Happy holidays!

@kplam

Thank you so much for sharing and for your support! As I haven't heard back yet and my status online hasn't changed I'm assuming I didn't get in. I'll reapply but I'm bummed because APU was my first choice school.

I'm also a little confused as to why I didn't get in to be honest. I've been a CNA for a year now and I have volunteered at Kaiser and done job shadowing at my local hospital. I also worked for 2 years at the community college where I took my prereqs doing health promotion (organizing health fairs, blood drives, etc).

I've taken all the prerequisites except O Chem and Biochem (I'll be taking those next semester). I received an A in every prerequisite. My undergrad GPA was 3.3 and I have a BA in philosophy from UC Santa Barbara. But my prereq GPA was 4.0 and last 60/90 was 3.55.

I've been waitlisted at the university of Hawaii and I'm still waiting to hear back from western, USF, USD, and Samuel Merritt. I just hope I get in somewhere!

I just got a call from the main campus program rep Mr. Watkins. He said my application status is "no decision" so far and that I won't hear back until January. He did confirm that they have filled all of the Fall 2018 spots and that I'm looking at either being waitlisted, admitted to a different semester, or receiving a rejection letter.

Congrats melphor & feliciarose56! I applied for the Summer 2018 start for SD but got into the Spring 2019 start. Have you started a FB group yet?

No I haven't, I've only found one other person on facebook that got accepted.

Congrats @jlynny! I look forward to meeting you too! Isn't it a relief to know we got accepted 😊🌻

@Soma122 thank you the same to you :) yes it definitely is. I'm very grateful that they sent the email before the holidays.

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and get good news later!

Hey everyone, sorry for the late post. i applied and didn't get into the Azusa main campus for Fall 18 but got accepted with a guaranteed spot for Spring 19.

My stats were fairly competitive: 3.8 Science, 3.8 Non-Science, 3.2 cumulative but I feel what helped me stand out was my hospital volunteering experience at LAC+USC, community clinic experience, doing multiple mission trips overseas and getting a CNA license and working as a med tech for an assisted living facility.

Congrats to my fellow Spring 2019'ers and to those that haven't gotten in yet, keep trying!
