U.S.A. California

Hi Everyone,

So I received this email telling me I was accepted to APU's EENAP Summer 2011 class.

But this was 2 weeks ago and I cant get a hold of anyone there.

If you got in as well for this term, do you have any info on this?

Thank you!!!

My Undergrad gpa was 3.6 (graduated in 2003 :uhoh3:)

My pre-reqs are at 4.0

I applied in November 2009 and it wasnt until March 2010 that I heard back from them for an Interview.

It took another 2 months until I heard I was accepted for the Summer 2011 ELM program.

During the time I was taking my pre-reqs, I was also volunteering at a Hospital. Other than this, I had no prior health care experiences.

I hope this bit of info helps... :)

Thanks! That is almost exactly my profile, down to graduating in 2003:uhoh3:. Although MY undergrad GPA was 3.1 (:

Anyone here currently in the ELM/EENAP program? While waiting until I start the program, I've been looking into various ways to help cover tuition.

Can anyone share their situation w/ financial aid & tuition? I want to make productive use of my time (saving & applying for scholarships & doing whatever it takes!!) until I have to start the program. I would love any tips/strategies that you might want to share! =)

I am currently in the ELM program. Financial aid covered my tuition. We are considered graduate students, so there is usually enough to cover the costs of tuition. Books can be expensive for your first semester. APU offers a "package" at around $1200. I chose to buy my books off amazon/craigslist etc for about $800. So I would suggest saving money to buy books on your own. I had money left over from financial aid to buy the books, but I chose not to use.

As far as scholarships go, a lot of the ones I found want you to be in school already. Just keep searching the internet for them. The school will have a few to offer as well. One that was offered is for under-represented groups in the nursing field (males, latino's, African Americans- you will get more info once you start) I applied to a few on my own since I didn't qualify.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Kurlaub!

Do you mind if I ask how much tuition is? Since they merged the EENAP and SCAN program, I feel like they might have changed tuition prices? On the ELM website it says that tuition is now $58,315 or $545/unit. That seems a lot more than I originally saw on the website when I applied last May and its hard to imagine that it has increased that much.

For my cohort, tuition is about $40K, with 69 units at $500 a unit for the BSN. I am not sure about the Master's tuition though.

I applied to APU in august for the Summer 2011 / Fall 2011 MEPN FNP program. Got an interview with the School of Nursing Directors / pre admissions advising in November (spent 500 dollars flying there and renting a car / hotel)...One week later, I get mail from the Graduate School saying that their program was full for 2011 and I was rejected...all of this happened while I was still in contact with the directors of the school of nursing.

I emailed the graduate school (I forgot what the person's name was) and asked if they could re-consider their decision and if I could appeal it, he said no because the program was full for my year. Told me to reapply again for another year....

I pretty much have a bad view of APU now and will not be applying even though the directors of my program have told me to try again.

Are you in the ELM program at the main campus (Azusa)? I have been accepted into the Fall 2011 at San Bernardino. However, I am quite confuse regarding the prelicensure and MSN portion. I was told that I would complete the prelicensure at San Bernardino, but then would have to attend Azusa campus for the remainder of the MSN portion. Is this your experience?

No, I am at the San Diego campus and they have an MSN program there, so I won't need to go to the Azusa campus. Bummer that SB doesn't have the program yet.

How was our experience with the work load in the Accelerated ELM? It is barable?

Yes, please let us know this! It would be awesome to get a "day in the life" and some honest feedback about the program and hours required...even privately message me if you can...I applied to the SD program, but honestly with the little contact I've had with the administration thus far...hmmmmm

I got accepted for the Summer 2011 ELM at SB Campus. Does anyone know if there is an orientation of some sort? I have not heard anything from the school yet... other than my Financial Aid Offer letter... :sstrs:

i still have to submit my financial aid to azusa. are you sure they cover tuition? I thought they wont cover it bc its your 2nd bachelors degree. i emailed the assistant admin and she said she is going to send out orientation info this week. i got into the elm summer 2011 at SB
