hello, My I140 just approved recently. Please explain what will happen next. I have already done my biometrics last May..how soon can I be scheduled for my interview? My files are transferred to texas service center..any inputs please...
By the way, is it true that once your I140 was approved its like saying that "you are now a permanent resident "
I am now currently in the US with working status.

hello Pink Blush, congrats on yr I-140 approval. You will only become permanent resident once your I-485 gets approved. Since you say, you are already in US and working (probably using EAD), you should either get an interview call or should get the 'green card' in the mail. Interviews are called randomly (I believe).
So, in my opinion you will keep working on EAD (and may have to extend EAD till you physically recieve the Green card, that is, I-485 approval.)
tHanks a lot...:balloons:

The I-140 is just the first step on the process. You are not a permanent resident until you actually get the green card. Unfortunately not all complete the process. Until you get the green card, and you are in the US with the EAD, you are actually in limbo. You do not have a visa, if you think about it, it is in process. And your tourist visa, or student visa, no longer exist.
Do you actually have the Visa Screen Certificate in hand? You will need to present that.
pinky... they have not approved my I485 but they updated my profile that they have received my VSC and that the application process would be shorter than they earlier told me. I applied for everything on April27th , 2006
thanks. what about yours?
I applied everything last week of March. They haven"t been updating me. I have a VSC w/c was issued last Jan. I dont want to stress myself just by thinking that it will take me longer periods of time bec I did not attached it/ In due time I know it will be processed too..Most impt is that we could work to earn our living. Hats off to you, luck seems to be rubbing on your side:)
Thanks suzanne. I have my VSC with me. I dont want to stress out myself thinking that I should have attached it when I applied...no point in regrets. it might not make any difference at all should it? If they asked for it, then I would just present it with them..One of my colleagues was not even asked for his VSC and he was so lucky to have received his green card in the mail. In due time, I know it will be processed. For the meantime I need to content myself with my EAD which enables me to earn my living. (Just cant go home yet to visit my folks:bluecry1:
Hey,
Just got my I485 approved yesterday and the green card has been mailed to me.
Timeline :
Application for I140, I131 and I485 application received on the 27th of April, 2006.
I140 approved - May 20th, 2006.
I131 approved - May31st, 2006.
I485 - mail sent to me for more documents - Nursing License and VSC - June
7th, 2006.
I485 - documents received June 24th, 2006
I485 approved - June 28th. Card sent same day.
Thank you allf or your prayers. The application was really fast ( 2 months). I think it makes a big difference if the lawyer you use knows what he/she is doing. Also, Texas S C is really fast.
Good luck to those waiting for theirs.
