Hello Everyone ~

I wanted to start a new thread of conversation for people that have completed their pre-req courses & can now start the application process for nursing school. I am currently getting my paperwork & applications completed & submitting them to Saddleback, GWC & Long Beach City Colleges. Any advice or discussion in this process of preparation & waiting would be greatly appreciated. It's been a long process but finally able to apply. Yippie!! It'll take a miracle for me to get in anywhere (hoping for lower enrollment) due to my low TEAS score:wacky: but you never know!!

Hi there..goodluck to you..im barely starting my pre reqs and i just have a question?on the curriculum, it says recommended courses, do u still haveto take it or its up to you if want to take it or not and if yes any advice to finish my pre reqs and recommended course quick?thanks alot...im excited and and same time scared...lol

I just applied to Saddleback yesterday and Goldenwest last month. I'm really hoping for Saddleback just because I've heard so many good things about their program, but I really hope I get into one of them! It HAS been a long journey to get to this point. It's hard to tell if someone will get in at Goldenwest because this is the first time they are doing the points system. But at Saddleback I was told I would maybe make the alternate list based on my points I think I have, and based on what points made it last year. That kind of made me lose a little confidence but we'll see what happens! Good luck to all!

Has anyone received any news from Goldenwest for the 2013-14 school year? I have been checking the website for updates and looking in my mailbox for a letter but so far I haven't gotten any news one way or the other! Planning on calling the Nursing office on Monday as well, just thought I would check to see if anybody out there had any news....THX!

When I turned my application in they gave me a little slip of paper that said to check on the Goldenwest Nursing website after March 6th, and they should have up to date information on when we should expect to receive our letters in the mail. I'm so anxious! Have you applied anywhere else?

Thank you mgarrett13, I just saw the March 6th date on that little slip of paper too! I am super anxious also, hoping to hear some news sooner rather than later I suppose :) I only applied to Goldenwest because I am hoping for admittance to the Sping semester, I will be appying to Saddleback and possibly Riverside for their spring semesters as well in the next few months. How about you?

So far I've only applied to Goldenwest and Saddleback. I am planning on applying to more later as they open up, but those are my first two choices! I just checked online recently for Santa Ana College's nursing program, and they will be finally switching to a points system and will no longer have a wait list this year, I believe. I think they said they expect the first application period to be in September. Just another option!

That's great info! I have been wondering when SAC would switch over to the points system--it's great to have another option to choose from!! Best of luck to you---when will you hear from Saddleback?

Saddleback said they should let us know by the end of May at the latest. I will definitely be posting on here one way or another, I hope others do too! Good luck to you as well!

Well, this is about it. I applied last week for Saddleback, the deadline is this afternoon. If I get the points I hope to get, I should be fine. But if I get less points, it may all depend on who is applying and how many are applying in total.

What did they say when you applied? They told me at Saddleback that last year my points made it to the alternate list :/ that was a little bit of a downer but like you said it depends who is applying this time!

They said nothing. Is that good or bad? The points were not discussed at all, we just made sure that all supporting documents were included in the package.
