  1. Wow a lot of these are things I never really considered-great ideas! I have been revamping my resume a little and am starting to apply again. Travelgurl I may take you up on that in the future, thank you! I just came back from Nashville for the annual NSNA convention and learned some really great stuff about finding a job. They will be posting slides I believe and I will share information here once I get them!
  2. I want to be a nurse because I feel that it fits my personality to my core. I thrive in stressful situations, I have worked on my feet as a waitress for many years and could never work a desk job, and I have a passion for the science of nursing! I'm sure that many others can agree, helping others in some of the worst situations they may experience helps you see a little of yourself in them which is a powerful thing.
  3. Hi all I am in my second semester of an ADN program and am stressing over the saturated job market I'm about to be in. I'm trying to learn some networking skills because it's a bit new to me and in Orange County it's "all about who you know", which for me isn't a lot of people because I've lived here less than two years. Also I've tried to get my foot in the door myself, have applied for about 40 jobs in the last two months for either CNA, patient transport, pct, or any entry level position in hospitals and have heard nothing. Any advice is appreciated!
  4. Shaynadawn how did you like Golden West? Were things you loved/hated? I'm trying to get a picture of their program because I might have a choice between there and Saddleback. Thank you!
  5. CONGRATS!! :) I am dying to check the mail now..
  6. Congrats, poppykai!! The more I have been thinking about where I want to live and which school I would prefer, I am leaning towards GWC. I am in for this fall as well, so we will be classmates! I did some online browsing after receiving that email about orientation and boot camp, and found a page with last semester's checklist information. Here's the link: http://www.goldenwestcollege.edu/nursing/forms/ Anyways, it has given me a lot of info and I am so ready to start. Hope this helps you out in getting prepared too!
  7. Congrats to you too! I'm so excited. :) Did you apply anywhere else?
  8. Yes, I received a letter on March 8th for conditional acceptance into Fall 2013. We had until March 22nd to answer and I am guessing that's when they sent out more letters.
  9. I only applied to GWC and Saddleback. I'd prefer Saddleback just because it seems to have the best reputation around here, but who knows, I don't think we'll hear back for a while. Anyone else care to share their points, or what people told you when you applied to Saddleback?
  10. So I got a letter last Friday from Golden West, I am conditionally accepted into Fall 2013 as long as my background and everything clears! So freaking happy! It said to reply by March 22nd or else the spot will be given up, I'm assuming this is when they'll send out another set of letters?
  11. I should have 69 points I think. I thought walking in there I had 71 but I couldn't get points for both my phlebotomy cert AND volunteer experience.
  12. Dazzlechunk, I read recently on their website that Santa Ana college will be taking apps again in September for a points based system.
  13. It probably just depends who was there at the time, but if they made sure you have all the supporting documents you should be fine!
