Hey there ! I recently got into LIU nursing program as a transfer student and I barely had any nursing pre-req classes, I had an interview and they accepted me on the spot. I have a 3.3 from my prior school and they offered me 10,000 plus and extra 3,000 along with 10,700 with NYC grant and aids.

How long did it take you to find out you got accepted after you applied? I didn't realize that they did interviews, interesting.
thanks so much! i actually spoke to a counselor there and I have 3.8 GPA so far.. and he said to keep my grades up and i could get in... but he gave me a list of so many pre reqs.. what did u have when u got in if u don't mind me asking?
Also would u mind telling me how you applied to get in on the spot? I really appreciate it :)
I applied online and then they went to pull up my application , After that they accepted me

Hi Everyone,
I have not applied to LIU's Nursing program, but I used to go there undergrad (Brooklyn Campus) and I have several friends who have graduated from there with RN-BSN and Respiratory Therapy degrees.
In general, it is common knowledge among the undergraduates that the Nursing program is very easy to get into. In fact, when I was there 4 years ago, they were accepting students with a 2.5 GPA, without all pre-requisites completed.
I can't speak for the other campuses, but LIU Brooklyn's enrollment has been down since 2011, and some of my friends who graduated in the last two years say that they are taking a lot more students. My friends complained that the laboratories were dirty and outdated, and that they had to travel quite some distance to another college because LIU BK didn't have the facility / equipment. All of my friends who graduated from there had issues finding jobs afterwards, though they were stellar students and passed the licensing exam on the first try.
I don't want to discourage anyone from working towards their dream, but I went to LIU Brooklyn for three years and had many friends who graduated from their nursing program. I don't know if it has changed in the past few years, but based on what I've been told, I wouldn't recommend it.
when i was there with the counselor, he told me they're getting a new head dean for the nursing program... so i think there might be changes :/
I work with a few nurses that went to LIU's program fairly recently (the full program, not the RN-BSN), as well as a nurse that did the RN-BSN and is now finishing the Adult NP program. They say that the program is very rigorous, that they learned a lot, and the only thing they didn't like was the cost. They said that when they went to review sessions for the NCLEX, they could tell the difference between the education they received, and that of students at a few other schools, and that they loved the education they received. They encouraged me to apply.
FWIW.
