Hello all!
I have a quickie question about applying for part time jobs that are listed with FT hours. A little background, I have been a nurse for almost 2 years. All in OB. I dropped to PT in my current job because I decided to start a DNP program with 3 classes a semester. 3 nights a week at work plus 3 classes just couldn't work out. Now, my work place has gone through a merger, we have extra nurses meaning extra downstaffs. I have tuition to pay! Plus I want to work with CNMs who deliver because that is what my degree is in. I found a job at a hospital that I really like but it is listed for FT nights which I cant do obviously. Can i apply anyways and just be upfront in the interview about my needs. I won't be applying for benefits at this time...I just really need part time hours to balance all of this!
Thanks!

Do it but be upfront with the recruiter, don't wait until the interview. I applied for a fulltime job just looking for PRN. I knew I was qualified, I just needed my info seen. I told the recruiter and she went back to the manager. They found room for me. So it can work but your resume should be strong enough as well (meaning your background is in the area you're applying for).

It could go either way. I have co-workers who wanted per diem or part time, but were told it was full time or nothing. It's worth exploring, though.
honestly, i would consider that option but im in for the long haul with this degree. It's a four year program and I couldnt imagine missing every weekend for 3 more years! Thank you! I have heard this unit is booming and in need of nurses desperately so I hope they will be flexible!
