Applying for Harper RN Spring 2011?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Anyone else applying for Harper Spring 2011? Just took my NLN yesterday and planning to apply as soon as I get results. We had to evacuate the building in the middle of the math section because of a false fire alarm and it really threw me off but I'm hoping I did O.K. in spite of that.

Still have to take Phys. this fall and hoping for provisional acceptance. Wondering if they'll have another shortage of qualified applicants because they raised the math requirement for 2011. Seems like they raise the requirements yearly.

I just added up my points and I have a 45 :crying2: Did they tell you what the cut off was? I am in district. I wonder how many seats they have already filled. Aww... now I am really discouraged.

Oh Wow, I think I read somewhere that if you don't score at or above the cut off then you wont be accepted. CALL ADMISSIONS AND PROCESSING ASAP and ask them if the cut off score will change and if so what will it be for the June Deadline. Because If they still have seats left that means that they dont have enough people in the program that met the cut off score, so you still may have a chance.

yeah i got A's in anatomy and phys and a 78 on my NLN so my bio scores really boosted my overall score. right now it says it is closed, but keep your fingers crossed and maybe you will get in! If not, sign up for the bio class that you did poorly in again and try to get a higher grade to boost your score. good luck! i hope you get in, let us know! :)

I am a 3rd semester student at Harper. You do need to stuck together it will make the next 2 years so much better. You also have to get used to finding things out at the last minute. Things change quickly and you need to adapt. Clinical sites change due to scheduling and with the change come different requirements. You will survive it you just need to learn to be flexable and take things as they come. The friends you meet these next two years will be the ones that get you throught all of the craziness. Stick together, support each other and you can all make it :)

Thank you so much for your advice! I am literally freaking out I am so nervous about the program haha, but hearing advice always makes it better! Do you have any other major pointers we should know? Thanks again! :lol2:

Take patho over the summer if it is offered. Take evrything one day at a time and don't fall behind.

My first semster I already took microbiology and psychology so I only have patho and the nursing classes to focus on. This summer before the program I am taking Advanced Pharmacology to get it out of the way so I only have the remaining classes to focus on. :)

I also got in for fall 2011!!!!:)

congrats!!! were you at the orientation last night? it was scary but good to finally get some more information!:yeah:

No, I wasn't there I'm going to the one in July. I wish I could of gone last night because I would like more information!! How was it?

It was alright, kind of stressful learning about the grading scale and having to have an average of a 76 on all tests before assignments/papers and such. we basically just signed a bunch of things and took a computer proficiency test. also we got a tour of the simulation hospital. i am very excited to start but very nervous!=] what is your schedule like for fall?

Specializes in Obstetrics.

I'm going into my 4th semester at Harper. You girls can do it!! Congratulations to all of you!! Agree with LoveNursing... you MUST stick together because your friends in nursing become all you have.
