Applying for FIU/UM CRNA program

Hi guys!!

First off, hope you are having a beautiful day. =) So, let's get down to business. I need your true and honest opinion--even if it is not what I want to hear. I am a critical care nurse and have been working as an RN for 1.5years. However, I have been in the medical field as a student nurse and CNA for several years. I am now applying for CRNA school at Univ of Miami and FIU in Miami, FL. I am wondering if my application appears strong enough for an interview. What else can I do that would make me more appealing as a candidate and what are the weak points?

BSN, GPA 3.5

GRE: Verbal 570, Quantitative 610, total 1180

Certifications: CNA, RN, ACLS, PALS, and soon CCRN

3 superb recommendations: 1 from a CRNA, 1 from clinical supervisor at work, and 1 from a professor in undergraduate studies

By the time I apply and hopefully get accepted, I will have been working in critical care for almost 2.5 years. Do you think my profile thus far will at least land me an interview?

Any and all input is appreciated, thank you! :redpinkhe

Moved to the Pre-CRNA Inquiry Forum (vs. the graduate nurse forum) to encourage responses.

Your stats look good, just don't limit to two programs. Problem is what do the other competitors look like? You will probably never know. I say apply and get your interview skills in order and good luck! There is more to acceptance than just stats, so if you get an interview, research tips for that as well.

Yes, stats look good. Just make sure the ICU experience is a quality one..good luck.
