I am going to transfer from my local CC to a four year university for my BSN. By the time I apply, I need to have at least five of the nursing pre-reqs completed. After this semester ends in December, I will have six of the nursing pre-reqs done and obviously all of them finished by the start of nursing school. The deadline to apply is February 15th 2011 to start Spring (January) 2012. By the time I apply, I will still have A&P II, English II, Statistics, Principles of Biology, and Chemistry w/lab left to take. I will be completing those Spring 2011, Summer 2011, and Fall 2011 to start nursing school (if accepted) Spring 2012. Does anyone think that I have a good chance of being denied first try since I still have five class left to take??? I have a high GPA (4.0) but that's about all...... should I give it a shot or wait until I am completely finished????

Every school is different. My school says you can apply after completing A&P 1 but then goes on to say that it is preferred that you complete most of your pre-reqs before starting. You might as well read that as before you apply. In talking to all the students that I know that were accepted for the upcoming Spring semester, We all have only 1 or 2 classes left to take, which are being done in this current semester. For some of the people I know that were not accepted, they applied after taking A&P1 with a bunch of other classes still left to take. So it looks like they may have used that as a deciding factor. But again every school is different. I don't think it will hurt to apply anyway. Good Luck!

If you have the application fee....why not? The application fee is all you have to lose! The worst that happens is that you don't get in, and then you apply next year after you've finished the rest of your pre-reqs.
