:imbar Anyone applying to the christ college of nursing and health sciences admission for the fall of 2010? I know the deadline is january 15, 2010. I had got accepted last march but I could not attend so I am applying again, I had a 3.53 GPA cumulative but last spring I took some classes and my quaterly GPA was a 2.90 so I decided to take biology, spanish and math and earned a 4.0 this quarter so I am hoping that will bring my cumulative GPA back to its competitive state. I have 2 reference letters from a supervisor at Children's Hospital and a professor at the University of Cincinnati and a co worker but I am not confident on my essay. I am wondering if my grades and other credentials will make up for my writing deficiency and if the fact that I got accepted last year will influence their admissions decision in a positive way. To those who attend christ or are applying how competitive were your grades?

i got in did u get in to christ as well?

Yes I got in. I got my letter today. I thought it was a rejection letter until I opened it because it came in a regular envelope instead of a big envelope. I think its weird that the letter said they would send out the rest of the materials the week of the 22nd, it wouldve made more sense just to send it with the acceptance letter

I also got accepted to the University of Miami and Mercy college in Toledo. Im going to attend Mercy instead though because UM is $18,000/semester (ridiculous!) and the program in Toledo is also cheaper than Christ's program but its a BSN program. I think it would make more sense for me to go to Mercy and get the BSN instead especially since its cheaper. But Mercy was my first choice anyway (I think I told you that before) so after I got my acceptance from them last month I didnt care whether the other schools accepted me or not.

Im just really excited to be starting the ACTUAL nursing courses, I know you are too!

congrats!!!

Grechi-

Did you decide to attend Christ? I see they got their financial aid code finally! At first I was going to do the Toledo program but now Im having second thoughts because their program is 3 years long and Im not too happy about that. Have you actually been to Christ's campus before? I know the deposit is due next friday and I dont want to pay them anything until I've actually seen the school. So Im going to call tomorrow and try to set up an appointment for one day this week.

What were your first impressions of the school if youve been there before?

hi there, yea i went last friday i have visited the campus numerous times is a small institution and its right next to the christ hospital they have a tunel that connects you from the hospital to the college when you have to go to clinicals you take that route, they have a lot of new technology and the building is only 10 years old but the school has been in place since the 1800's and they have some of the old memobiblia left and it looks very very nice, the staff is really courteous and you can tell you will get a lot of attention, everytime i go visit it reminds of why i need to go there lol let me know how the visit goes bye.

Hey! I went and visited the school on Friday and I really liked it. I really liked the fact that they had lockers, lol. But I sent in my deposit yesterday so they should have it by friday. I wonder when they're going to send us some more information...

hey how are you? yea i like the facts that they have lockers too, heard that we will be needing them bc the books are pretty heavy, I was there on monday talking to cathy about some things, she said once she knows who all is attending the fall, they willl start mailing packets on orientation info as well as what are the next required steps. I guess they mailing it out friday since thats when the money is due.

When I spoke with Brad, he told me that orientation would be on or around August 17th sometime. But I forgot to ask him about class registration. Im assuming we wont be able to register until we go to orientation, right? I've already looked at the class schedule and have my schedule lined up. Hopefully when its time to register for classes there will still be spots available and i can get the days/times I want.

And it bothers me that they dont publish a book list and wont know what books we'll need until a week or two before the semester starts. I would like to start buying my books now through Amazon, maybe one or two at a time so it wont put as much of a dent in my pocket.

Do you live in the city of Cincinnati or outside the city? I need to start trying to find a place to stay but I dont know much about the area. A lot of people told me to look for places in the Clifton neighborhood around the school, but then others have said that its not a good neighborhood to live in. What do you think?

hello, there is a mandatory day we have to go in july i believe, and they will fit us for uniforms, take our pic for our id and to make sure we have our physical and shots done. If I am not mistaking I think thats when we will also be able to register, but then again I am not sure... but I am hoping thats when it is because usually registration is done well ahead of first day of classes. This will all be in the information packet they should be sending out next week. I live in the clifton area, right by the university hospital on the street called martin luther king. its so close to the school, like I said previously I was a current UC student so there are a lot of student housing around, to me is not a bad area at all I been here for 3 years and I feel secure. You should visit some places and check out the vibe, I like the gaslight district over there by ludlow by good sam hospital is a nice historic quiet area. I mean there are things that happen here and there but as long as you stay away from certain neighborhoods like corryville and avondale you should find that clifton is a nice area. maybe you should check out some websites like gaslightproperties.com or uptownrents.com (more pricey but a lot of selections) there are also a lot of apts right next to the christ hospital. I like living in clifton because its close to the major hospitals and I work at childrens hospital so everything is near me. I have also been here awhile so I am accustomed to it I guess but I would recommend it to anyone. You just got to know where to look. If not maybe newport kentucky, I have heard is a nice area.

I am goin to turn in my money today, I almost forgot. anywyas, hopefully I get to meet you soon and all the other students.. good luck.
