Hello Everyone,

Im from California and am not too happy here with the taxes and obscene cost of living . I graduate this December with my BSN and am passionate about the NICU and also love adult ICU. I really digg Vanderbilt, from what I have seen on their website and here. I wanted to know if anyone had the scoop on the general date of which I can begin applying for their new grad program. I checked the website, but no luck. I know Im way early hehe but I want to get this figured out before I start the hell that is summer school ;)

My other questions for out of state appliers: did you have to fly to TN for an interview or were the accomodating with phone interviews?

Also, compared to Ca, TN looks great job-wise, but are you guys feeling the recession (ie not welcoming for new grads)?

And finally, if I end up rooming with a friend who goes to school in Cookeville, would the drive be tolerable from there to nashville, or would it be okay for both of us if we lived half-way?

Thank you so much in advance and good luck to everyone :redbeathe

I can tell you first hand that they actually start interviewing this coming August for a new grad class that will start in January.

They interview earlier and hire sooner than most other hospitals.

oh my gosh thank you so much! :)

of the people that graduated with me in december, they knew if they had the spots by the middle/end of november. if that helps any

I called HR today and he told me applications would be available Aug. 3rd...interviews are in October! Good luck! I'll be applying as well seeing as how my externship at the Mayo Clinic looks like it will not be getting me a job since they are on a hiring freeze:*(

well vanderbilt is on a hiring freeze until god knows when. I been trying to get on up there for the past two years with no luck. i would like to work in the childrens hospital.

I work at Vanderbilt and haven't heard they have a hiring freeze. In my dept alone, we've had more than 15 new employees start in the last 4 months, including me. I applied on their website and was called in less than 2 wks for an interview. There's a hospital orientation every 2 wks.

Don't know where you got your info.
