I know that it's early, but I really wanted to get a jump on this. I have read the past two years' threads from start to finish and have seen the amazing support given by everyone involved. Considering how competitive it is for nursing school admission, it is extremely informative and heart-warming. I will be applying to all the schools in the Portland/Salem area to which I will qualify. This next year is going to be rough, but ever since I started on this journey I have loved every moment.
A little about me:
Again, I know this is early, but I look forward to seeing the responses from everyone!
Born4This- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am SO happy you got in. I knew it was going to happen for you! I am really happy you didn't have to wait any longer- I know it was torture. So excited to have you as a classmate:)
Thanks so much @BRW85!! I can't believe it happened, and, I am just thrilled to be a part of the 2016 cohort. I wanted it so badly when I was sitting there at orientation. A gal I spoke with who's going to be a second year now (I think you, me, and the gentlemen you were siting with talked to her all at the same time!) told me not to lose hope because she got offered a spot a week after orientation...then I get offered a spot, a week after orientation! Can you believe that? So exciting :-)
Hello RASKL! Not sure if you will get this since it's a year later but, I am interested in your thoughts about Linfields's Nursing program. I hope to attend in the Spring of 2015 but not for the accelerated program. I got accepted into PCC's Nursing program for the Fall 2014 but Linfield has always been my top choice. However, I assume all the courses are the same, just one is more accelerated (less breaks). So at this point is sounds like you may already be graduated....Did you love it! Any info about the school, courses and clinical sites would be much appreciated.
Hey all! I'm a Linfield ABSN student that started in the spring this year. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the school and/or the application process. I also took some prerequisites at Chemeketa, and I applied to the 3 year program at OHSU and the ABSN program at Linfield, and decided to go to Linfield! What type of discretionary points are you referring to? Are you applying as a first or second degree student? While grades are very important in getting into the program, I think the content of the insight resume and letters of reference are equally important. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions about Linfield!
I am going to OHSU. Reasons: Chemeketa classes all seem to start at 8am; I have kids that go to school in McMinnville--I would drive myself crazy trying to get to class. The OHSU Monmouth schedule is often later, and it is a shorter commute for me. I am also now a Ford Re-Start Scholar, and I have the ability to go for the BSN all at once, thanks to that.
I am very glad to be accepted by my school! I will always have a soft spot for Chemeketa. They do things right, and have an excellent program. (Except for making us all wait until mid June to find out if we have a life!) Anyway, I am grateful for all my teachers and all my experiences at Chemeketa. Power to all you Chemeketa student nurses! You are great.
Yea, I did too. I think it said we could on the 16th so I made sure to do it that day. Yes, I am excited to meet everyone from our cohort. I am pretty new to the area so I need to make some friends! haha.
I think we will all become good friends, I think all our classes will be together except one I think had 2 choices for it if I remember correctly. Can't wait to get started!
