Apollo College RN Program

U.S.A. Arizona

Has anyone attended apollo's rn program? What is the schedule like? I recently read that apollo was bought out by devry and apollo's credits will be eligible for chamberlin's bsn program? Has anyone heard this?

I would love someone feedback.

Somebody is lying. I don't see why the person with the least post would make up such a story. I'm glad were able to track threads here. Anyway Apollo doesn't really have a good rep which is why they changed the name. GCU along with other kept the same name for years. Anyway let's hope we make some good nurses ay!

i attend Carrington college (apollo college) the reason they changed the name was, because they were bought by another company and are expanding. Since uneducated people spread rumors about the school, the marketing team thought it would be a good idea to change the name for future business. I have to say that I was a little apprehensive about going there because of all the rumors. But now I just feel silly for not getting the facts first. They are and AWESOME school with great records of grad students passing the NCLEX. I would not want to go to any other college!

For a poor reputation they sure do have a pretty good NCLEX pass rate...

Apollo was purchased by the parent company Devry, whish also purchased (Western College* or something like that) and merged the two schools into one larger subcompany.

Devry is looking to seperate their schools, at least seperate the Nursing schools from the other allied health programs. Devry is rebranding and reforming, nothing more, nothing less.

Can anyone who has attended these private nursing school's such as Apollo/Carrington, Devry, etc.., tell me if you have to have all the tuition (i.e. $40,000) paid for before being accepted? If so, who grants all that money?

It does not have to be paid before being accepted. But the semester your starting must be paid before starting it. You can get federal loans. I was able to pay for mine with pelle grants and federal loans. I was really nervous that I would not be able to get a loan to pay for it but it all worked out, and their finacial aid team is super helpful! They do EVERYTHING!!

Rachelmm007: Thank you so much for the response! I was a bit nervous about coming up with the funds and am glad to hear that it went so smoothly for you. I hope to get some grants as well! Thanks again!!

Im just curious as to why some of you are going the private school route when things are so tough in our economy? Im not suggesting anything is wrong with your decision, just wondering what helped you feel comfortable spending that kind of money when new nurses are having a difficult time finding work.

Well the way I look at it is...It would take me 4+years at a community college for just an associates and I can get my ADN in just 2 years at a private school. Which means that I will be working 2 years earlier than I would if I had gone to community college. Thats approx. $120,000 in lost income compared to $50,000 for private school.

Oh and I should add that the research I have done for my area is that hiring is just fine, in fact right down the road from my house they are building a 250 bed hospital that will need to be completely staffed...

What puzzles me is why only 10 candidates took the test, knowing that class starts with more than 30 students.

Another suggestion is to look at Central Arizona College in Coolidge, it does require CNA license, but I hear the waiting list is shorter.
