AOS filers from July 2007

Published

Just thought it might be fun to have a place to check what other AOS filers experiences have been, with this recent group of applications. I filed July 18, 2007 and just had my checks cashed. This part has taken 8 weeks, and I have not received my receipts yet, but think that should be happening soon. Has anyone had similar experiences? I feel lucky, though, that my application was sent to Texas. It has taken me a long time to get a chance to just apply so I feel very fortunate. But know a long wait is in store for a green card. But since my husband was able to file with me at least he will finally be able to work soon. He has not worked for over a year now.

Here is an interesting statistics from DHS for FY2006.

http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/statistics/yearbook/2006/table07d.xls

For "Schedule A" in FY2006 Applicants + dependents that applied from abroad = 30,952, adjustment of status = 7,742.

I think that about 2-3K of "Schedule A" professionals + their dependents filed for AOS under July 2007 visa bulletin.

We filed AOS late July 07 and got our EAD last week (from Nebraska center). :balloons:

Good luck you all.

Seems like Nebraska is faster than Texas now. We applied July 17 but my husband still doesn't have his. Seems like those who applied later are getting them faster. Happy for those getting them but our 90 days is almost up so he should be getting his soon.

Where did you get this statitic?

As I mentioned above in FY2006 7,742 applicants and their family members applied for AOS, while the majority 30,952 applied from overseas. 2-3K is my prediction based on the above figures.

Just clearing up that it's just your own personal prediction and kindly re-check the link you posted. It doesn't seem to go where it is suppose to go. Thanks.

I corrected the address

Just to clarify, I was mentioning about the 2-3 k you mentioned as being your personal prediction and not the actual stats from FY 2007.

Schedule A: Applicant Spouse Children

8928 5605 8237 = 22770

AOS: 4295 1674 1773 = 7742

These are figures from 2006.

Yes, but that was last year. There's no guarantee it will be the same this year, right? No one predicted 800,000 total AOS applications to be filed for just 1-2 months, right? Has anyone predicted that AOS applications will be as high as 800,000 (unofficial data) base on last year's stats. If we are going to base it on last year's stats then we won't even have as near as 800,000 total AOS applications but it did; it went up to 800,000 total. Not everything can be extrapolated accurately base from last year's stats. This is just the point I am getting across. Nothing more, nothing less.

And why did it go up that high by the way as compared to maybe last year? It is because everyone (including those who have no prior predilections to file this soon) wanted to beat the deadline for the massive fee increases.

The 2-3k estimate for this year could very well be correct but I was just emphasizng that it is just an estimate or a prediction from one of our members here since the official stats for this year haven't been released. For all we know, it could even be lower than that, which is a good thing for some countries with over-all lower visa demand other than Schedule A. No one really knows until the official data are released.

Also want to clarify that I am by no means questionng the stats from 2006. That is a fact already.

I've chaged it to 2007 now. It's really meant to be 2007 and not 2006. My mistake. But those carefully reading and following the discussion would know that it is really meant to be this year (no official data released yet) rather than last year.

You are right!

So for FY2006 (Oct 1st, 2005 - Sep 30, 2006) a total of 30,512 Schedule "A" visas were used.

Now Schedule "A" was current from June 1, 2005 till October 31, 2006

According to DHS statistics 5,125 schedule "A" visas were used in FY2005 (June 1st, 2005 - Sep 30, 2005).

http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/statistics/yearbook/2005/table07.xls

So, from June 1, 2005 till September 30, 2006 only 36,367 Schedule "A" visas were used.

Now if 50,000 were available under schedule "A" what happen to 50,000-36,367=14,363 visas? I doubt very much that so many petitions were filed in October 2006 - the last month when this category was current and for new applicants the only option was AOS, even considering the fact that consulates conducted interviews in October, 2006 and November, 2006 they could not use 14,363 visas! Especially considering the fact that not all applications got approved (because of the Visacreen, etc).
