I am new at this. I am A RN in NH and just started working 11pm-7am in a rehab. Hospitial and I am having a hard time relaxing I feel that I am not doing things right HELP.

Specializes in Geriatrics/Oncology/Psych/College Health.

Hi there! Welcome to the board :). We're glad to have you.

Can you tell us how long you've been a nurse and in what settings? Or are you a new nurse and dealing with everything being a learning experience? Believe me, we've all struggled with feelings of not yet being comfortable in a new role.

Hi. thank you for getting back to me. I can't seem to find out how to find my replies. I have been in Nursing since 1971, approx.11 years as a LPN and 20 Years as a RN. I seem like a new Nurse, I did not feel this way when I started as a Nurse. D52

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

I think when you switch areas or specialities it's natural to feel a little lack of confidence, no matter long we've been a nurse.

In time I'm sure you'll get into a grove where you're confident. In the meantime ask questions of your experienced coworkers. Rehab Nursing is a totally different area than what I'm used to and I would feel out of place and like a nervous new grad if I went into that area.

Relax. Sounds like what you're experiencing is quite normal.

Good luck and welcome to the boards!

Hi D52happy! I'm sorry you don't feel comfortable in your new position! I worked nights in a rehab in NH for years, first as a CNA then as an RN, wonder if it's the same one? Is it southern NH? If it is, I'd be glad to e-mail with you. Meanwhile, just ask questions! You'll do fine! Good luck!

Christine
