Anyone worked as a nurse in the Virgin Islands?

What was your experience? Pros vs. Cons. Was the pay comparible with the cost of living? Anything else you would like to add.......

Specializes in nursery, L and D.

I had a job offer on st thomas about 4 years ago in a LTC facilty as a MDS nurse. The pay was about the same as I was making then, but cost of living (when I checked into housing, child care, ect) was much higher. Also, transpo from here to there was a huge cost. As I have lots and lots of family here and would have to come several times a year, plus high cost of living there, I did not take the postion. Hope this helps. Maybe things have changed in the last few years! btw, the LTC was NOT willing to pay for travel or moving expenses, or even offer a sign on bonus:uhoh3:

I'm also in NC,btw!

I did see that the cost of living was really high. Wow. A 2bedroom apartment was listed for $1400. I guess you have to pay for that beautiful weather.
