Hi!!! For those of you who plan on moving to the states and want any type of information, fell free to ask.I'm currently living in the US .

hello,,, can anyone explain to me the concept of RECIPROCITY???

im not a board passer here in Phil, i failed, & im confused if i should take it again... a friend encouraged me to take NCLEX instead of repeating the local boards, she said i will be licensed here in pHil if i passed NCLEX becoz of reciprocity...

so please help me understand this recipocity...

thank you =)

1. You are not licensed in the Philippines if you pass the American Boards, just as you are not licensed in the US, if you pass the local boards in the Philippines. Each requires that you pass the board for that country.

2. The NCLEX exam has reciprocity, meaning that the results are accepted in all fifty states, but you still must meet licensing requirements of each state that you want a license in. One license does not cover the US, each state has its own Board of Nursing.

3. And if you did not pass the local exam, you will need to explain that to a s tate and see if they will even permit you to write the NCLEX exam, it will be up to each individual state.

How are you going to get a TN Visa if you have not even taken the exam? Or have you. You need to actually have a job offer to be able to get a TN Visa. I suggest that you take the time to read the Primer that you so graciously posted on another website without my permission and it is copyrighted material. But you never even bothered to ask.

So please read that Primer, you are going around in circles.

I posted this question before I got the chance to read the primer.Yes I did take the nclex and passed it.Thanks Suzanne.

You need to have a job offer as well as a Visa Screen Certificate to get the TN Visa at the border, a VSC alone will not get it for you.

Once in the US, you go to the Social Security office and apply for it, takes only about one week to get. It usually takes that amount of time to just get situated in a new country, etc.

No reason to get one any sooner. CA issues the license as soon as they have the SSN#. You can get a temporary one, if need be. Again, you cannot begin work without the SSN#.

Hi,

I am just starting the process with a recruiting agency to place me in California for a year. Myself and a friend are choosing to go with Canadian Travel Nurses, they advertise in the magazine 'Canadian Nurse', and we were referred by a colleague. Their contact info is:

Hi, everyone...

I'm an RN working in Montreal (Quebec), did the school in Romania, but also did 1 year of college in Canada to equivalate my studies and also passed the RN exam in Canada.

Now, I want to move to Arizona (presently in AZ trying to see what I can do) to work here, but they say I need to pass the NCLEX. I'm very worried since I did this twice (Romania and Canada) and now I need to do it a 3rd time.

Is there any way or any state where u dont have to redo this exam to be recognized as RN or even LPN in US?

Thnx alot for the help, greatly appreciated.

You have to pass the NCLEX to be able to work as RN in the US. You even have to pass NCLEX-PN for LPN but you will not qualify for immigration as LPN only as RN. NCLEX is the US nursing exam and everyone who wants to practice must pass
